JKA East Bay is a traditional Shotokan Karate club in the East Bay of Northern California affiliated with JKA NorCal. We are organized under the JKA American Federation under Mikami Sensei. Shotokan is a style of karate that is weaponless and split into three major components: kihon (basics), kata (a specific arrangement of forms), and kumite (sparring).
As a dojo, we strive to help our students utilize these techniques in forms of self-defense, and guide them to reach a sense of self-discipline. We accept both children and adults, ages 7 and up. Feel free to contact us for any further questions or concerns, and make sure to check out our blog for images from prior competitions and events.
