We believe it's more important to tell you who we are not. We do not come to you as MMA competitors. We aren't police officers or military. We are not karate masters. We may hold those titles or have that experience, but we come to you to share what's relevant as fellow civilians - average Joes and Janes.
We don't teach how to fight or get points. We don't teach martial arts. We don't believe everyone needs to know how to kill enemies or how to subdue or arrest bad people. We are professionals passionate about training and coaching women, children and families how to prepare, avoid, deflect, deescalate, escape and defend against realistic threats.

Services
Our mission at Beating Disaster is to increase your level of safety. We do this by looking at your perspective on safety and self defense, pointing out what you already bring to the table, assisting in developing a personalized safety plan, introducing effective tools and techniques, and increasing confidence through practice.
All interactive lectures can be scheduled as online training and taken from the comfort of your home. Please note that this mode of training is intended to be private for one household and no recording is permitted. Bodyguard Training for Moms and Raising Nonviolent Children are only offered as interactive lectures when taken online.
Beating Disaster offers a wide range of services in order to best meet your interest and needs in regards to staying safe. We offer interactive lectures, workshops and seminars, hands on training and personal coaching. You can join public classes or schedule training to come to your home, school, work, studio or gym.
The training we offer is unlike any you have taken elsewhere. We are focused on meeting you where you are and respectfully introducing you to tools you are willing and able to use. But what we think about our training isn't as important as our clients' experiences and perspective, so see what others have to say.
Citizen Defense Training is based out of Rochester and offers group presentations and training relating to school safety, workplace violence, church safety and security, general self defense, firearms and weapons training and more. We especially recommend their Pepper Spray Training which is available to civilians, as well.
