I've been studying here for years and one thing that has always amazed me is how it doesn't matter how bad my day has been, or how bad my mental health is that day, I leave feeling better. Sensei Philip is a great teacher, martial artist, and, most importantly, mentor.

Philip is professional and is great at interacting with children of all ages and backgrounds. Something about his teachings has instilled a new level respect in my 6 year old. Within 2 weeks, my son has gone from calling me "missy" to "yes ma'am" (genuinely) and has also shown a significant decrease in sarcasm & mocking! This guy is doing something right...

My 5 year old daughter begged me to put her in karate. She was excited and looking forward to her classes. 2 weeks in we are not enjoying it mainly due to Phillip Tollman.
He is not professional at all. Very condescending not only to the parents but the kids as well. He is instructing the only 2 kids in the class kicks and they were struggling. Instead of being creative and looking for ways to help them learn he decides to berate them for not understanding. They clearly were not visually seeing what he was trying to say. If my daughter froze or looked confused he decides to say “I don’t know

My son just went for his first lesson to his first lesson, a beginner class today. My son has sensory processing issues so he is a visual learner and Phillip was not showing him what to do he was only telling him and expecting a 5 year old to guess what he supposed to do and know his right hand from his left. During the lesson I just mentioned that my son's more of a visual learner and Sensei Phillip snapped back at me in a very condescending way, cut me off and didn't even let me finish my sentence. He wouldn't listen when I tried to explain that my son has hearing and sensory issues. I am quite

I have been taking Karate from Sensei Phillip for year and a half now. I have enjoyed learning and getting in shape. I especially like the great detail that Truemotion focuses on to be sure you are learning the karate correctly. Sensei Phillip is very patient and makes it fun to learn at any age.

This is a great place! I have been going to this dojo for 2 and half years now. Sensei Phillip is a great instructor especially with the little kids. He makes learning Martial Arts fun and enjoyable for all ages. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in being active, learning self defense, looking for discipline for younger kids, and anyone who wants to try something new. Come in and visit!

I've been coming to this dojo for a couple of years now and I can honestly say it's so much fun. This is a passion of mine to learn and train and I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. Sensei Phillip is a great teacher! He makes training so much fun and helps students learn so much discipline, especially if your having a bad day. He is… there to help you get out your agression. He even takes your request of certain things you want to work on to get better. I enjoy using the equipment he has to help students train. My daughter is in the kids class and she has learned so much and she

We're only on our 3rd week at this studio, and I've already seen enough good in this place that I feel confident in leaving a review. We've never put our daughter in a sport before now so this is our first experience. Sensei Phillip is absolutely amazing with these kids, and he has made our daughter feel welcome and fulfilled as she learns these new skills. He offers these kids a wonderful combination of fun, challenge, focus, discipline, and accountability. He truly cares about these kids and he works hard to help them be successful. My daughter is a major perfectionist, and being in karate isn

I highly recommend this place to anyone. My daughter was very shy and did not have many friends. She was bullied her first few weeks at school, she is 6. However, after starting karate she has more self-confidence, she has gained friends (both at karate and school), has better control over her temper, and overall is just a happier child. My younger children, both boys (5&3) will hopefully be starting soon as well. She loves Sensei Phillip and he is always patient and kind with her.

I highly recommend this place. My son has taken karate here for over a year and enjoys every minute of it. He started out in the 4-7 year old class and then moved up to the older class when he turned 8 and I thought both classes were great. Sensei Phillip does a great job of keeping the younger kids engaged and focused. He strikes the perfect balance between being firm and keeping the students in line while also being encouraging and keeping the classes fun.
