This is a class that focuses on age appropriate martial arts drills and techniques. In addition to the physical benefits, this class is a great resource to help parents and children with communication, expectations, and habits. We use stories, pictures, games, visual aids, and all sorts of modalities to teach the Life Skills.
Not only will your kids benefit, but the whole family can use the information that is shared. Each class is 30 minutes in length. This class teaches the basics of martial arts and helps the students learn more about self defense techniques and applications. This class is fun, educational and uses exciting drills and games to assist the learning process.

It's easy to feel bullied when you hear criticism or suggestions. The problem is this keeps you stuck and feeling like a victim. Another way to look at criticism is simply as feedback for learning and growth. We can learn from another perspective even if we don't agree. Kids benefit greatly when a parent shares tips and tricks and Do's and Don'ts.
Life Skills Karate is about changing lives. By practicing both the Physical and Mental aspects of the martial arts we learn to ride the waves of life and find opportunities to grow and become wiser and stronger. Ultimately this gives us more freedom! Our program teaches about Responsibility, Consequences, and Self Discipline.
My son has been going here for just over a month now. Miki is an amazing teacher. He teaches self defense techniques and also teaches the kids important life skills. My son looks forward to going every time. My daughter would watch my son at his classes and decided she really wanted to do the program too.

Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, Value
Our son started working with Miki when he was around 8. Our son was having problems getting along with others, showing proper respect, etc.. He stayed with Miki until he graduated from High School and he's now 26. I think he's turned out to be a great young man and a portion of that credit goes to skills he learned working with Miki.

We went in for a privet introduction class to see if this would be a good fit for my son and it is exactly what we were looking for. He teaches the karate skills my son wanted but is also teaching life skills such as respect, problem solving, and how to work through tasks that might be hard. We will definitely be signing up!

Miki is encouraging to all the kids and points out things they are doing well and helps with things they struggle with. Both of my kids really take to heart everything Miki teaches them. I would recommend this to everyone. Very glad we found this studio.

BEST PLACE EVER!!!! My son has been working with Miki @ Life Skills Karate for over a year now. This is hands down the best class for teens. My son is now 15, and is not only getting to learn karate, he also learns about real life skills. Like how your ego works, responsibility, and consequences. He is able to express how he is feeling and is able to work through difficult situations that he may be facing at home or at school, or just what's on his mind. I too attend his classes because it is so powerful, and I too learn and gain knowledge from the class. It also helps the two of us be closer and
