Body Mind Mana
Heat increases blood flow bringing even more oxygen, nutrients and proteins to treated areas than massage alone. The use of hot stones has a softening effect on bodily tissues and can help lessen symptoms of anxiety, emotional tension and mild. Deep tissue massage uses direct deep pressure and other techniques including friction with the intention of physically separating congested tissue fibers to relieve pain and restore normal movement.

Auntie Margaret Machado called Lomilomi the "loving touch". Lomilomi therapists strongly embrace intention and higher/self, spiritual, universal guidance - MANA, coupled with deeply comforting and skilled technique. Acupressure predates acupuncture and is described in the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine (dating back approximately 2300 BC) as one of the five major branches of medicine.

Mahalo for taking the time to check out my website! My first career straight out of high school (Moanaloa High class of 82), was in military communications. After six years of serving in the US Navy, I worked at NRTF Lualualei (transmitter site) in Nanakuli for 12 years. That environment was not for me, so I began switching gears in the early 90's towards massage therapy.
At the tail end the renaissance era, medical practitioners began using massage as part of their healing treatments. Ambroise Pare (1570-1590), the French barber-surgeon and founder of modern surgery classified massage movements as gentle, medium, and vigorous. He is credited with restoring the health of Mary, Queen of Scots by use of regular massage treatments.
What are Knots? When there is muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesion's or what many people refer to as "knots" (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscle, tendon, and/or ligaments. Adhesion's can also be caused by lack of nutrient rich oxygenated blood due to shallow breathing, smoking, a poor diet, excessive alcohol consumption, drug use (including prescription medications), lack of water and/or general stress.
The nostrils are attached to a part of the brain called the limbic system. The limbic system controls emotions and influences the nervous system and hormones. When we inhale essential oil molecules, the chemical constituents act as messages which are transmitted to the limbic system and affect heart rate, stress level, blood pressure, breathing, memory, digestion, and the immune system.
Acupressure predates acupuncture and is described in the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine (dating back approximately 2300 BC) as one of the five major branches of medicine. Firm yet gentle pressure of fingers stimulate specific energy points to promote the body's natural energetic self-curative abilities.

Shelly is an awesome healing practitioner! I've gone to her several times for her healing massages to help me with aches and pains. Always left feeling way better. Her work helps me with my healing process. Her Kailua massage studio is beautiful, calm and relaxing. Try her hot stone massage...magical! And she also is a certified aromatherapist and uses essential oils in her massage work.

I've had many massages around the world. This one would rate up there with the best. Shelleys combination of styles and techniques was exactly what my body needed. I only wish I lived nearby to have another.
Thank you
Kristy.

I was home for a quick visit and needed some relief from my high-stress Mainland life. Well, when I walked out of Shelly's tranquil studio after my massage , I was so blissed out that I probably shouldn't have been driving. Those knots that reside in my neck and shoulders? Gone - and they had been living there for a long, long time. Don't be mislead by her gentle demeanor; Shelly is strong and she WILL work you over if you ask her to. Let her work you over ;) She is a truly gifted massage therapist!

Shelly is one of the best massage therapists I know. Over the past 10 years I've had massages from at least 20 different therapists. In a way it's somewhat ironic that every session Shelly asks where I need the most attention when in reality she figures it out in minutes and customizes the massage to exactly what is needed.

I've experienced too many therapists that just go through the motions they learned in school and don't know how to really focus on the needs of their customer. Shelly is a notch above most therapists and has the experience and knowledge to provide the best
