We are pleased to provide a wide variety of veterinary services for our clients and patients in Malvern and surrounding areas. Please refer to our Pet Services page for a list of services we provide. Dr. Hughes originally opened Hughes Animal Hospital in Malvern in the fall of 1989. After practicing for 24 years he sold his clinic and worked as a relief veterinarian in surrounding counties for a few years.
Please call us at 501-337-PETS (7387) to speak to one of our caring veterinary staff members! Dr. Hughes is a native of Hot Spring County. He is a graduate of Ouachita High School. Dr. Hughes received his undergraduate degree from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly, and we'll usher you into an examination room after checking in your pet. Dr. Hughes is a super awesome vet. He always takes time to explain everything from meds to wound care. His staff is amazing too. Very kind animal loving vet. And I watched a staff member sanitize the room after the pet patient before us left. She did an incredible job. I was very impressed. If you're looking for a great veterinarian look no further than Dr Hughes.

We live in Hot Springs and use a local vet for our normal vet needs but recently needed an animal hospital. First for our pot belly pig to be spade, and then most recently for our Doberman puppy to have his ears cropped. Dr.Hughes and his staff are excellent! They are great with communicating with you while your pet is there- they are knowledgeable and welcome questions. I highly recommend them for any animal surgical needs.

I had gone to a different location before stumbling across Dr. Hughes facility. The previous location frustrated me, because I had brought my animals there for regular vaccinations and to be neutered, but when my 8 year old pitbull had gotten attacked by another dog bad, bloodied all over his face, ears, chest and legs, and I called and explained what happened and get him checked for stitches or any serious problems, they treated my old man like he was a "vicious" dog and going to attack. The vet tech and vet at this other location were terrified of my pit and I was there with my 2 year old daughter
