I started seeing Dr. Powell over a year ago and have been very pleased with the Carma health group! I feel like he truly cares about each patients journey in recovery and goes above and beyond the standard for patient follow up to make sure you are still on the right path while you're getting established with him. I have had ADHD my entire life and he required me to have a new diagnoses done by a specialist so that he could continue to fill my prescriptions which is why I'm not sure why another reviewer said her husband continually asks for addictive prescriptions and they continue to

Dr.Powell has given me the hope I have wanted to have for years. I had given up. After my first visit with him - I literally cried tears of joy after - I FINALLY had the confidence that my treatment plan WILL work. I honestly did not plan on getting much help out of this appointment with my unique case but it was worth a shot. Dr.Powell is extremely understanding and listens to your concerns, answers questions, and I completely trust him with my treatment plan.
Not only was my doctor phenomenol , but there was an issue with my pharmacy and I had to call his office multiple times unfortunately

I am so grateful to Carma Health, especially Dr. Powell for being a caring, compassionate and one of the most professional clinicians that has treated my unique case. I was on the verge of giving up all hope before being referred and becoming a patient. Thanks for the kind staff and nurses - the clinic ensures that they as well as I remain compliant which is critical for my continued road in recovery.

I had an appointment scheduled on Jan. 13, they canceled it due to inclement weather and then CHOSE a new appointment date for me without telling me. The “pay” button on telehealth doesn’t work, which I wasn’t told, and they told me I had to pay $90 in past co pays. Never coming back her again. Disappointing and unprofessional for a drs office.

Dr. Powell is great, but this a horrible office. I submitted a refill request Wednesday early afternoon, it is now Friday and nobody has gotten back to me. And before someone lies and says I didn’t do a voicemail for a refill request, I did, and it was a long detailed vm made Wednesday afternoon around 2pm.
How this office handles refill requests is entirely unacceptable, but I’ve never had this much of an issue before now. Separately, it’s 9:41 AM and I can’t even reach the front desk line to make an appointment to talk to a live person, and your office is definitely open today. You’re

I started coming here and was assigned to Dr. John Walsh. Everything is currently virtual, but even through the computer I could tell he really cared. He was very invested in our conversation and has every intention to help and find the best solution. Even though my new insurance doesn't cover him, I'm going to pay out of pocket just to stick with Dr. Walsh because I enjoy the way he listens and helps so much and I don't want to go out and try to find this level of care again.

I have received the vivitrol shot in 2016 in Minnesota and still have the same insurance. I have dealt with a more inept and disorganized group especially when they are playing with people lives. I have been there for 4 months and had 2 appointments, told I needed to make the appointment with the pharmacy that delivers the drug, told a copay amount of !2K which is why I waited to get it. I have watched friends die because of Carma's mishaps. Once you go over the 30 day period, the injection is weaker and doesn't block your receptors as much. They don't take this into account. If

Samantha is the most awful billing specialist I've come in contact with my entire life to date. She is rude, unprofessional, a liar, sloppy and majorly disrespectful. The only worthwhile thing about this place is Beverly otherwise I would strongly suggest trying to avoid this place. My co-payment has changed 3 times and I was advised pf this last minute of a 45 minute drive to their office. They change their policies constantly. Samantha hung up on me instead of ditffusing the situation, thats how she deals with negative issues. She told me in the past she gave my message to the Dr. but in

It's worth noting that the practice also treats mental health disorders which is why I use Carma. I have been to other doctors in town and have never received the level of compassion and care for my health that I do here. Discomfort with medication symptoms isn't waived off and they have worked with me on a medication regiment that is reasonable and I can keep up with. I make my friends who also have mental health issues jealous with the positive stories I tell about going to my psychiatrist.

I said "I'm looking for something to help me stop smoking" and she said "I'm going to prescribe you something for your anxiety." Hello? That's not even what I came in here for. Did you listen to me?
The office never answers their phone and refuses to email me. Setting up an appointment is a days-long cat-and-mouse game.
They get 1 star for taking my insurance, and a second star for being friendly and nice -- after I finally get hold of them. Complete and total fail in terms of providing care and running a business.

I've been seeing dr. powell since 2011. followed him loyally to every practice he's been to and I've loved his nurses - every single one of them.
Dr. Powell is a great doc. He's a cool down to earth dude that's easy to talk to. Since moving to Austin, I've lead a pretty clean lifestyle. He's truly helped me overcome my addictions. He's a great doc, I see him for my primary healthcare needs as well. I've never had an issue with my medications or anything of that nature. There's been less than a handful of times that I've needed to reschedule

I came in to Carma with a unique presentation and case history. Dr. Powell seemed initially personally curious about the cause of my symptoms. However after a few miscommunications (not to mention more than one incorrect prescription on his end) he referred me to the (in-house) psychiatric nurse practitioner. I have never met a more insensitive, distracted and aggressive "doctor" in my life. She did not give me ten seconds of time to speak and seemed to have everything planned before she said it. I understand that she works with patients who may sometimes be difficult, but her reluctance

I've searched around quite a few places before being able to find the right fit for me. Right off the bat, the staff you deal with at CARMAHealth are very compassionate and caring, and I could tell that from day one when scheduling my first appointment. They work with my insurance and were able to get me an appointment quickly.
It may seem small but, reserved parking for patients to ensure you can pull up and jump right into the office was very nice. That's a breath of fresh air when dealing with any business near downtown Austin.
