Jewel started cooking at the early age of nine. Following behind her grandmother and watching everything she did, Jewel knew she loved cooking. Years later after choosing to work in other fields outside of cooking, Jewel never forgot her passion. Jewel was given the opportunity to cater an event in Harlem, NY in 2013.
Since then, she has catered weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, Women's Conferences, Church Pastoral Anniversary's, repasts and most notably The New York City Court System, and cooperate events for DC37. Jewel offers a variety of delicious dishes in traditional soul food lunch and dinner styles as well creating an h'orderves menu transforming traditional soul food into delightful bite sizes.

Customer service was horrible. Owner wants to claim the cashier is new which is totally fine. What is not totally fine is I didn’t get a hi / greeting from the cashier. She didn’t even look up from the screen. I tipped to see if she was say thank you or even just smile But that was A LONG SHOT. the owner also says it’s fine I was provided that kind of service cause she is new. That’s pathetic. Claiming it’s okay not to say hi or greet your customers and say thank you when a tip is given and told she rolled her eyes cause I asked for lemon cause the sold fish. I still did not get a genuine

AMAZING FOOD!!! Had the chicken and Mac and cheese and green beans. All of it stellar.
My boyfriend loved the ribs. Said they were fall-off-the-bone tender and there was a lot of meat on them.
The banana cream pudding was to die for and I'm not even a banana person.
And the owner is such a gem. One of the nicest people I've ever met. Loved everything about eating here.

Absolutely FANTASTIC! We talked about how good this was for hours Lol Don’t sleep on the Mac, the Ribs, Potato Salad, Greens, Fried Jumbo Shrimp, the banana pudding and peach cobbler. Pretty much everything 😉 God bless this business and family. Oh! and if the truck isn’t in your immediate area, it’s worth the drive. Trust me. Enjoy!

The food is definitely homemade with love and deliciousness. Ingredients used take me back to my grandmas home-cooking. It seems the food has even improved since the last time we came. I would say the only improvement would be the staff reception maybe being as warm as the food. A little smile and greeting goes a long way. Anyway, still definitely worth the travel and money! Enjoy food for the soul!

We asked Mel & Libby's to cater our monthly board meeting and what a treat it was. Jewel was a pleasure to work with - responsive, reliable, and honest! Even when I was tempted to order more she assured me I had enough food :) My tip: don't skip out on potato salad nor banana pudding! Our folks immediately went back for seconds. We will definitely use Mel & Libby's again.

Melnlibby's catered my wedding on 11/11/16. Everyone asked where did we get the food from because it was soooooooo good. The macaroni and cheese is to die for, the cornbread OMG melts in your mouth, the wings all flavors especially the fried wings for me were deeeeelicious, the salmon was awesome and tasted so good. Everything was delicious, the portions we're more than enough to cover our guest and they had a 2nd plate. Thank you very much for your delicious food, advice, and assistance.

We very recently hired Mel & Libby's to cater my husband's 50th Birthday party. it was a very joyous, special occasion made even more special by delicious food our guests were happy to enjoy. Jules is AMAZING! She was incredibly accommodating in a last minute request to help me cater an event in two days when I was all the way across the country. She was incredibly professional and give me guidance on the best choices for my party size and the type of event we were having and her suggestions were spot on. Absolutely delicious. I had Mel & Libby's cater dinner for a focus group I held in Brooklyn. Jewel was professional and arrived on time, actually early. She beat me to the venue lol.
Everyone kept asking where I ordered the food from. The seasoning was perfect. I'm from the south and I know cornbread... that was some of the best cornbread I've had in New York.
