Joe is amazing as a hairstylist and as a person. The atmosphere is very relaxing and everyone that works there is fantastic. 11/10 would recommend.

Joe has done my hair several times over the last few years. Super professional, you get what you pay for and on top of it all hes a great conversationalist. I recommend anyone to go here if youre looking for something on the natural side, all the way to the colorful side.

Went for a big change yesterday and cannot believe how much I love my look. I don't always heed Shane's advice (protect your hair!) and it was showing. He came in with his magic wand and voila! My hair looks so much healthier, the color is fabulous, and it's so soft to the touch!!! I cannot express enough how relaxing and enjoyable this salon is. Their prices are beyond fair, too.

This place is great! Staff is friendly, products are top-quality, prices are absolutely right and the result is guaranteed to impress you.

I had my hair done by Missy today and she was amazing! Did exactly what I had asked and was super nice. She even gave me some great tips on how to deal with my curly hair. Definitely will be my new hair place in woodland.

Joe created a great haircut for me, just what I asked for. The salon is immaculate and very special, combining plants, steel, brick and wood. Both Joe and Shane are welcoming, and listen to their clientele. I would highly recommend them.

After years with one stylist I had to change. I was worried. You know how it is breaking in a new stylist. I was thrilled with the cut. Joe did a perfect job. I'm going back 31st for color. That will be the big challenge.

I have been Shane's client for a few years now. I tend to walk in feeling tired, stressed, and pretty blah about myself. I leave feeling energized, like I can conquer the day, and feeling pretty sexy. The prices are excellent, the atmosphere is great, and everyone is friendly. My favorite part, bedsides loving my hair, is that this is a gossip free salon. <3

Loved that he asked questions before, during, and after my cut. It is cute, easy, and he kept cutting while asking as we went shorter. Great product and styling suggestions.

I loved my experience at Roots today! It's right in downtown Woodland. Joe is very kind and did a wonderful job with my hair. I chopped off ten inches to give away to Locks of Love and Joe made sure my shorter cut look great! Super friendly and talented staff.

Just got back from a haircut with Joe, and I am feeling compelled to testify to his awesomeness... I have had haircuts in and out of the big city, and I must say, that this time, it was nothing but pleasantness.

Best guys working here. Very honest, efficient, and talented. Great place for color, but they do it all.

Finding a highly trained, gifted hairdresser is akin to winning the lottery in terms of the odds, and pay out!

I have done hair off and on for decades and I have been regularly disappointed with the general lack of talent permeating the salon industry these days!

My Cher bear has been going to the Roots Salon on Main Street here in Woodland, CA for several months now, so I thought it appropriate to finally write a review, now that I have been able to observe the consistency of their work.

I was lucky enough to have Shane as my stylist/master colorist for years in Central Florida. Then he moved to Northern California (boo!). But I was fortunate enough to relocate to N. Cal myself about a year and a half ago and have been reunited with my hair affair! Shane is a professional, committed and dedicated stylist/colorist who knows his stuff and makes the best recommendations. I hate to have to write this review but I joined Yelp JUST to write this:

I have been going to this place for the last year and a half. I used to rave about this place to everyone - making my friends drive out from Davis to visit them.

Sadly....I HAD THE WORST HAIR CUT EXPERIENCE EVER HERE YESTERDAY!!! Went in to get a trim. Acknowledging that there were split ends that needed to be taken care of, I agreed to cut an inch or two. I asked Shane to please please keep the length. I've been working to grow it out for over 2 years now. I took my glasses off, Shane cut away (in silence because

WOW, I cannot believe how fast time flies, its been over 2 years since I've been going to see Shane and Joe at Roots Hair Salon, and I'm still driving all the way from SF to get my hair cut and colored by the magnificent duo of Shane and Joe!

And as a 2 year customer of Roots, and a 6 year customer of Shane's (which might I add also includes my mother who has also been seeing Shane for approximately 5 1/2 years as well and joins me for the monthly trek up north) I've learned quite a few things when it comes to doing hair.

You get a little bit of the city right in Woodland!! Shane and Joe have brought some of the San Francisco style with them and mixed it with the warmth of Woodland.

I followed Shane from the salon he was at in the city and I'm glad I did. His work is fantastic, the salon is adorable, the art is great and the vibe is perfect!! He and Joe (who's an amazing stylist as well) have made this a hair haven, the perfect place to get away, relax and be beautified!!
