The Gilman and Valade Funeral Homes have long enjoyed a tradition of service to families in Putnam and surrounding towns in their hour of need. The Gilman funeral business was founded in 1919 by Alexander Gilman. Mr. Gilman had previously been affiliated with other local funeral directors, but eventually ventured into the funeral service field on his own.
Since 1919, the Gilman and Valade Funeral Homes have been dedicated to serving families in Northeastern Connecticut. We offer three locations where you may hold a service: Gilman Funeral Home, Valade Funeral Home, and Park Tribute Center. We work with you to customize a celebration that reflects your loved one's life as closely as possible.
After receiving a degree in mortuary science from the New England Institute at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA, Bob went on to receive his bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island majoring in business administration. He has been a licensed funeral director since 1992. Bob is a third generation funeral director growing up in a family devoted to funeral service.
Located on Church Street in Putnam, the Gilman Funeral Home overlooks the Quinebaug River. This is also the location of the main office where funeral arrangements take place, both for services at the Gilman and Valade Funeral Homes. Located on Main Street in cozy North Grosvenordale the Valade Funeral Home is conveniently situated across the street from St. Joseph Catholic Church and St.
The Park Tribute Center is Windham County's only crematory and it is used exclusively for Gilman & Valade families. Separated into two rooms, the gathering room offers the option for families to have a viewing, committal ceremony, reception, or a customized service of their choice. The cremation room is the area where the cremation takes place.
