Services
My name is Melinda Dionne. For over 35 years, I have been helping people find a way to deal with overwhelming debt. I have never represented a deadbeat because the vast majority of people having financial problems are anything but deadbeats. My clients are stressed and struggling to deal with the harassment that comes from owing more money than they can pay.
I do not charge for evaluating your situation and giving you a recommendation on how I can help you get out of debt. First meetings with me usually last between 1 to 2 hours. I understand that as much as you fear not being able to pay your bills, you fear filing a bankruptcy case even more. I always run a credit check to make sure that every creditor is listed in your bankruptcy case.
First you could try credit counseling. There are many free services that will go over your finances with you. They will make suggestions on changes that you can make to help you with your debt problems. Using Debt Consolidation, you would take out a loan and pay off your other debts. This can result in a more affordable payment.
Seeking the help of a reputable credit counselor is another approach to debt problems. The trick with this option is finding a "reputable credit counselor." You have to really do your homework when it comes to choosing a credit counselor. Don't be fooled by the fact that an organization claims to be a "nonprofit" organization.
A debt consolidation loan is one that allows you to roll all, or most of your payments, into a single loan with a lower monthly payment. Experience has shown that many people who get these types of loans end up in worse trouble in the future. Habits are very hard to change. If your debt problems are the result of overspending or poor money management those problems don't magically disappear with a debt consolidation loan.
