Founded in 1939, Sausalito Nursery School is the second oldest cooperative preschool in the country. We believe education is best served when teachers, parents, children and families work together. We pride ourselves in providing children with a secure, comfortable and responsive environment, by respecting, accepting and encouraging each child's independence and autonomy.
As a parent cooperative, Sausalito Nursery School affords parents and children the opportunity to participate together in the excitement and joy of the first years of learning. When a child is enrolled at Sausalito Nursery School, their parent(s)/guardian(s) become members of the cooperative.

Services
Our curriculum is designed to enhance the social, intellectual, physical and emotional development of each child according to the natural patterns of child development. At Sausalito Nursery School, we believe children learn through play.
The structure within our program is created to instill a love of learning that will follow a child through the rest of his or her life by allowing children to have a positive self-image; feel confident and safe; have the opportunity to initiate play and exploration; and become comfortable with familiar routines.

In the Spring of 2020, as we were navigating the early days of the pandemic, I accepted the role of Director at Sausalito Nursery School to help carry on the long legacy of community and caring associated with the school. To be able to guide this wonderful co-operative preschool is an honour. Previously, I taught at SNS for 6 years, teaching the Sea Otter class as well as the Tide Pool class.
Sausalito Nursery School is the second oldest co-op nursery school in the country. Founded in 1939, the school has provided an exceptional start to generations of children in Sausalito and Southern Marin. The school is a non-profit, tax exempt organization managed by the current families through their membership on the governing committees.
