Milwaukee Urban Acupuncture opened in late 2013. We are a team of Wisconsin licensed practitioners dedicated to community wellness and lifetime learning. Our space is a combination of a communal acupuncture room and one private room for Massage Therapy, Reiki and Orthopedic Acupuncture. Treatments focus on wellness and balanced health as well as pain and symptom management.
This traditional style acupuncture takes place in our communal room where you can sit with needles in anywhere from 30-45 minutes. Incorporated treatment strategies include nutritional consulting, Chinese herbal therapy, and breathwork. Our contemporary style acupuncture takes place in a private treatment room.

Gua sha is a method that uses pressure/scraping with a ceramic or stone tool. The way we breathe influences the functioning of airways, blood circulation and oxygen release to the cells. Common conditions including asthma, rhinitis, hay fever, snoring, sleep apnea and anxiety can be significantly helped by applying the Buteyko Method. When assessing pain it is important to distinguish between acute and chronic pain issues. With acute pain correcting muscle disfunction might be an adequate treatment approach. Chronic pain, however, can develop a complex pattern within the brain and may require a multi system targeted treatment to help decrease sensitivity to stimuli from the environment and stress as well as blocking pain signals through the nervous system.
Manage your condition from home through online herbal consultations and at home techniques. Schedule a video call under the Telehelth option. Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine uses combinations of herbs called formulas. Formulas can treat a wider range of conditions by using the herbal interactions to increase effectiveness, decrease side effects and have more precise actions.

Having tried massage, chiropractic treatments, and more pillows and mattresses than I can count to help with my neck pain, some friends suggested acupuncture and offered up Milwaukee Urban Acupuncture as the place to try.
I loved that I could book the appointment online, it's just so much more convenient for my work schedule to pop into a website between meetings and find a time that works for my calendar. Having the prices available on the site was also appreciated. The location was easy to find and I snagged parking right across the street, another bonus.
Anne was very nice and thorough in

MUA is a gem, one we're very fortunate to have here in Riverwest! This is the kind of healthcare (as opposed to "sick" care) more of us should take advantage of, especially in this economy where adequate western healthcare (or, more often, any at all) is far from a given for many. I've been in for both acupuncture and massage. Anne and Johanna are amazing humans. I love that the business is committed to being part of the Riverwest community. The space itself is inspiring and relaxing, and a great place to duck into during the long Wisconsin winter that's around the corner. 10/10 would recommend
