Carlisha Duffey is one of our 2020 Faces of Sola and the owner of Southern Girl Natural Hair Studio in Topeka, Kansas. As Carlisha puts it, her studio is a safe place for naturally curly hair. Carlisha is a woman who wears many hats, as she is not only a hairstylist but is also a trained figure skater, writer, photographer, published author and student.

Southern Girl Natural Hair Studio is a safe haven and home for Naturally Curly and/or Textured Hair. It is a place where Curls are celebrated and cared for. Traditional Haircuts & Color Services are offered for all textures, and we offer a variety of Protective Styling options. Our mission at Southern Girl Natural Hair Studio is to educate, encourage and empower our guests when it comes to life and their hair.
A: Only the person receiving the service will be allowed in the salon. If a minor is the client, ONE Parent or Guardian, will be allowed to be present. All clients will be subject to contactless temperature checks prior to services being rendered. All clients must were a mask at all times, including children.

My experience at Southern Girl Hair Studio was truly the best! At my appointment, my daughter and I both had our hair blessed by Carlisha. Carlisha is so patient, and genuinely kind with children. I know some stylist that won’t even work on a child’s hair. My toddler received her first hair trim, and professional style at Southern Girl and her experience was so pleasurable! Pleasing enough to where she ate fruit snacks while watching her split ends drop to the floor during the trim. No tears, no fear. My daughters hair is so soft and manageable now. I’m more than happy I took the opportunity

Carlishia is very organized and professional. She make her clients feel right at home with the soothing decor and friendly conversations. I've never had to sit waiting for her to finish up another clients hair because she was running behind. My daughter had thin spots. Since we started with Southern Girl those spots are no longer visible and my daughter's hair is growing extremely well. We first met Carlisha at another salon and when she informed me she was moving away from the Fort Riley/JC area. I told her no need to find us another stylist because we will be following her wherever she goes.

Carlisha is so wonderful and easy to work with! She listens to what you want/need and is also great at giving advice and input when you aren’t too sure what you want to do. She has been cutting and coloring my hair for a while and I am so thankful to have found her. She truly cares about her clients and the quality of work and time she puts into your service. Plus I have been comfortable with her since day one! I love going back just to catch up, but of course have my hair done too. :) I highly recommend using her for all your hair needs!

Carlesha did wonders on my natural hair. She is definitely a miracle worker. I recommend anyone with natural hair to let her bless your head. She did a blowout and I was nervous at first about possible heat damage but after she shampooed and conditioned my hair and my curls were popping better than before!
