Young & Healthy
The problem with healthcare services in the Pasadena area is not one of availability, but of affordability and accessibility. One of the greatest obstacles to good health is poverty. In the Pasadena community, about one-third of the children are in need of the kind of care Young & Healthy provides.

The majority of children under age 18 and enrolled in Pasadena Unified Schools live in areas of town that claim the lowest per capita income and the greatest concentration of poverty. Young & Healthy, a Pasadena-based 501(c)(3), is an organization whose foundation was built upon the dedication and commitment of its volunteers.
Services
About one-third of the children in the Pasadena community are in need of the kind of care that Young & Healthy provides. Our focus is on filling this gap and helping the uninsured and underserved children and families of our community through prevention, education and enhanced healthcare services.
Young & Healthy maintains a network of more than 350 physicians, dentists, mental health and other professional health providers. Our case management staff members provide client screening, follow-up services and act as advocate-liaisons between clients and the medical offices, laboratories, pharmacies, hospitals and other agencies necessary to a child's treatment.
Our goal is for our clients to be able to access the healthcare that they need. We provide donated health services to children, ages 0-18, living or going to school in Altadena, Pasadena, Sierra Madre or South Pasadena. We also provide care to former foster youth up to age 25. These services are provided at no cost.
Since the beginning of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), our insurance outreach and access to care program has assisted many families with enrollment in and navigation of the often-complicated healthcare system. Our goal is to engage, inform and enroll Pasadena area individuals and families who are eligible for coverage under the ACA and to assist the residually uninsured to be able to access needed care.
Young & Healthy's impact over a 30 year period sends a strong message to the entire community and beyond: In Pasadena, every child matters. In fiscal year 2019-2020, Young & Healthy was able to provide comprehensive direct and preventive health services, free of charge, to 13,993 Pasadena-area families, of whom 1,216 received direct clinical services.

An amazing nonprofit that connects kids in Southern California who are un/underinsured with free healthcare services. I've volunteered with this organization for the past year and cannot speak of them more highly. Every single person who works here cares so much and the programs they create for kids in Pasadena are amazing. Donate here, volunteer here, you will not be disappointed! A great local nonprofit.
