Zonal began in the UK in 1979 when the McLean family noticed they were having issues monitoring sales and operations at their family hotel and bar in Edinburgh. Ralph McLean, the founder, realized the hotel was losing around 30 dollars a night. He invented a solution to manage and control operations, creating the first Zonal POS system.
