As a Conch, born and raised in Key West, FL, I loved spending time swimming and snorkeling. While I was studying at the University of Florida, surfing became my water fun and took me to San Diego. A beautiful woman I met turned me on to what truly became my two deepest passions: her and Chinese Medicine.
After completing my Masters of Science program in Traditional Oriental(Chinese) Medicine (TCM) at Pacific College of Health and Science (formerly Pacific College of Oriental Medicine), it was time to leave the crowded city life, and find a closer connection with nature. The variety of landscapes and water of Central Oregon and the lively, gracious people of Bend made it the perfect choice for the next chapter of our life.

If I could give Matthew Truhan at Balanced Garden 18 stars I would!!! He has been such a blessing during these difficult times. He is thorough in his practice and heals with compassion, patience, and even a bit of humor if the situation calls for it. My husband has also started going to Matthew and he is reporting great results as well. I highly recommend giving Matthew Truhan a try if you are looking for some alternative/additional healing methods!

I knew nothing about acupuncture before meeting Matthew Truhan a few years ago and I feel so lucky to have been referred to him by a friend. Matthew is incredibly compassionate and helpful in explaining traditional chinese medicine. My pain and stress level is always lower or completely gone after a treatment by Matthew. As a caregiver and active snowboarder and mountain biker with scoliosis I tend to have chronic aches and pains but treatments from Matthew keeps me feeling pain free and ready to tackle work or the mountain. I highly recommend Balanced Garden for your next or first acupuncture

Matt is so wonderful! He really breaks down his approach and helps you understand what he is doing. For me never having acupuncture before I was a little uneasy going in, but Matt is inviting and he explained everything to me in a easy way to understand. You don’t just leave getting treated, you leave with a newfound knowledge.

Matthew Truhan is really good with acupuncture. He takes the necessary time to evaluate the condition and symptoms, is very compassionate and simply a wonderful human overall. He was able to help get me up and going with my knee and shoulder issues and helped me tremendously! I highly recommend Matthew!

I had an excellent healing session with Matthew. He is very caring and in touch with the Eastern medicine methods and goes into great detail to understand your chief complaints and concerns. In my case, it's my lower back and he quickly zero'd right in on what areas needed work. He explained things to me about Ying and Yang that made sense and how I needed to balance things out to get healthier.
