We offer classes every week night in No-Gi Submission Grappling - a new sport with a long history. Like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the object is to submit your opponent using a variety of joint locks and chokes, or to win the match on points. Unlike Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, competitors don't wear the gi. This limits the number and types of submissions and sweeps available, but increases the pace and excitement of training.
Come learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a clean, safe and family-friendly environment! We offer classes for all ages and skill levels. We have over 15 years of experience of training with some of the most recognizable names in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, including Master Renzo Gracie and Professor John Danaher.

Services
Our philosophy is simple. We teach our students the most effective Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques in the most time-efficient manner possible. We understand that our students have busy lives and prefer not to waste time or money. To that end, we endeavor to revolutionize how old-school Brazilian jiu jitsu is taught by using the latest innovations in sports science, information technology and common sense.
Our Mission is simple: provide world-class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Submission Grappling instruction in a safe, clean and family-friendly environment. We offer classes both to children and adults across the spectrum of ages and abilities. Whether you're a novice looking to learn some self-defense skills or already an experienced grappler, we have a program for you.
At least every two months, we conduct exclusive seminars and workshops for our students. In the past, for example, we have done advanced workshops on leg attacks as well as wrestling takedowns. We also conduct self-defense seminars for corporate clients interested in helping their employees stay as safe as possible in their work and private lives.
We believe that everyone can benefit from training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but there is no risk if you're not sure. We offer a free 1-week trial period* to all prospective students so that you can be certain that Samurai BJJ is the right fit for you. We'll even loan you a Jiu Jitsu gi if you need one!.
As with other martial arts, a student's progress is marked with a series of colored belts. In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the rank of Black Belt is conferred to individuals who have mastered the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The belts in order are: White, Blue, Purple, Brown and Black. Some schools also award four stripes to mark a student's progress from White through Brown belts.

Professor Richard kindly invited me to drop in for classes while visiting family in San Jose. I attended morning classes with professor Kevin, and received top notch instruction by him and a few others who teach at the academy. The atmosphere was clean, friendly, and very welcoming. Highly recommend checking this place out!

My son has been going here for close to 3 years. Rich and Kevin are so good with the kids. I am so glad we found this place. My son loves each lesson, even if he doesn't show it at the time. He learns something each day, whether it's using his mind or a move on the mat. I really can't imagine going anywhere else.

Rich, Kevin and other instructors are beyond amazing. Their jiu jitsu speaks for itself, but on top of that they are friendly, professional, and have developed a gym culture that shirks off the sensei worship, and authoritative atmosphere that normally come along with martial arts. Instead the atmosphere is fun, friendly, and intense.
The facilities are brand new, and more than you could expect or ask for in a Dojo.
Their is a wide range in types of people and attendance so there is always someone your size and skill to train with.
Come check it out!

My 6-year-old daughter was hesitant about starting a martial arts. I wanted to find a place that eased her into martial arts while teaching her some positive lifelong skills to boost confidence. Rich is an extremely patient, kind instructor and after a 2 week trial, my daughter requested to go to her "fun-jitsu" class as much as possible! The dojo is very clean and well-kept, the membership pricing is affordable and more importantly, the kid is learning and having fun at once. Come check it out and you'll be impressed. I like that it has no long-term commitment contracts, etc. No pressure - just
