Dr. Chen founded Ocean Eye in 2010 because he wanted to create an environment that would deliver the kind of eye care he would want for his own family. Our practice is committed to providing cutting-edge medical and surgical eye care. We are located in the Scripps Medical Office Building in beautiful Del Mar/Carmel Valley, conveniently off the 5 Freeway.

We see patients of all ages and take care of a broad variety of eye conditions. We provide comprehensive eye care as well as subspecialty corneal services. As a subspecialty eye care provider ourselves, we understand the benefits of subspecialty training and are not shy about consulting others.
Please bring a list of your medications with you for your visit. You can feel free to download the New Patient Forms to complete in the comfort of your own home and bring them to your appointment, or we can provide them when you arrive (please allow 15-30 minutes before your appointment to review if you are planning to fill them out in the office).
Refractive error is the error in the focusing power of the eye. Light in the eye's optical system is focused by the cornea and then the lens before being imaged on the retina. If the image is focused properly on the retina, the eye is said to emmetropic. If light is improperly focused in front of or behind the retina, then one is said to be myopic (near-sighted) or hyperopic (far-sighted).
