Services
Through guided movement, exercises and activities we aim at re-establishing function and reducing pain with varied medical conditions, in many cases avoiding expensive surgery and often reducing the need for long-term use of prescription medications. Physical therapists can also teach patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benefits.
Occupational Therapy, in our setting, is typically concerned with treating orthopedic-based upper-extremity conditions to optimize the functional use of the hand and arm. Conditions seen by the occupational therapist include fractures of the hand or arm, lacerations and amputations, burns, and surgical repairs of tendons and nerves.
Performing exercise in the water can be beneficial for a variety of individuals with neuromuscular or musculoskeletal disorders. These unique properties decrease joint compression forces, may reduce inflammation and provide feedback for improving posture. The resistance of the water during exercise provides a safe environment for addressing balance, strength, and postural deficits.
