The Garden City Facility was opened in 1963. The original portion of the building is an 1850's farmhouse owned by the Stringer family, one of the pioneer families of the area. The building has undergone numerous renovations over the years, such as the chapel which includes historical windows from early 1900's churches in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Staff members of Santeiu Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors and support staff.

Santeiu Funeral Home was founded in 1936 on Burnett Street in Detroit by John N. Santeiu, Sr. (1911-1988) and his wife Mildred (1916-2007) when they moved to Michigan from Chicago. As was the custom of the time, funeral services were often conducted in the family's home. After 10 years in business with a storefront funeral home, John, Sr. fulfilled his dream of building his own funeral home.
When it comes to your arrangements, wouldn't you like to be the one to make the decisions? By Pre-Planning your funeral you can do just that. Not only will your wishes be known, but this takes some of the burden off of your family members. If you would like to not only Pre-Plan your funeral, but would also like to pay for your services ahead of time, we can help you in this matter.
Someone you love has died. You are now faced with the difficult, but important, need to mourn. Mourning is the open expression of your thoughts and feelings regarding the death and the person who died. It is an essential part of healing. The following articles provide many practical suggestions to help you move toward healing in your unique grief journey.
Those with an honorable discharge are eligible for a burial flag as well as military honors either during the funeral ceremony, at the cemetery or anywhere the family requests. Military honors are only performed once. Unlike the flag and honors, these do have some restrictions. We would be happy to help you with the process of applying for these benefits should you chose to request them.

The staff at Santeiu & Son are the most heartfelt, compassionate and caring people. They are very empathetic to what you are going through and will accommodate anything that you need. They are there to help every step of the way in the arrangement process. They are honest and truly care about everyone who walks through their doors. I can’t say enough how great this family is.

The staff is awesome! Chris was the first one we talked to, he helped us with setting up the arrangements, casket, church, and cemetery for my mother in law. Sue guided us through the viewing Friday night and the whole day Saturday, from the funeral home to the church, and then to the cemetery. There was also another lady working Friday night, I dont recall her name, but she also helped us tremendously, making sure we were okay and ensuring us that our mom would be okay overnight

This is the only place i can honestly say i hate going to but have nothing but good things to say about. I've had too many loved ones put to rest there. Truth is they have an amazing staff that is very friendly and helpful. They do so much to make a very difficult event as easy and comfortable as possible. It's a nice looking place that is very well kept. I feel bad I can't recall the funeral directors name but he was a very nice young man, he knew his job well and performed it very well with great consideration and professionalism. It really is a great place to say good bye..
