Terrible service. Gave them over two months to get our contacts ordered and paid for through insurance. Had to make multiple phone calls and they never followed through, very poor communication from their office. We had to switch to SAMS to get them taken care of, and then we were told that since we weren’t buying our contacts through their location we wouldn’t be allowed to pick up a single trial pair of contacts. Been coming here for over 5 years but we will be finding a new optometrist. Total lack of communication and service to meet customer needs.

Dr Mead is an excellent optometrist. He takes his time with his patients and does a lot of hands on training. Dr Mead has been extremely helpful to us, testing and diagnosing my husband with a specific eye condition. He then made the appropriate referrals for my husband's overall health. We will be forever grateful to Dr Mead for the time he took and his investment in our health. We highly recommend Dr Mead.

My family has been using Dr Mead for years and following my retirement from the military it seemed like the place to go. I have seen him twice now, first for a eye infection, that he treated and it cleared right up. Then a few weeks later I went back for my annual eye exam.
He did a great job, just as I expected after him taking care of my wife and girls for years.
He is conveniently located next to VisionWorks, and they provide great service as well. Win - Win!

Was told they would not schedule me a new appointment because I had rescheduled my last one and owed them $25.00 or they would not schedule me again!!! Lost my entire family's business today!!! What I find most amusing is they put the positive reviews on their page for all to see but have to push the more button to get to the true reviews which are negative.

Horrible! Rude and lazy! Receptionist that sits to the left side. The receptionist refused to help my husband, she plain out said to my husband " well, Im not going to". Apparently it's the customers responsibility to do the leg work. Dr Mead unfortunately agrees with receptionists poor customer service, but I seriously think he didnt know what really happened with our situation. He really doesn't know whats going on in his own office, but I still hold him responsible for such poor experience. Do not waste your time. You're better off driving those extra 5-10 minutes to another optemetrist office

I took my daughter to Dr. Mead today because we needed an optometrist on a Sunday and found his office when eating at La Madeline on 281 and 1604.
Although Dr. Mead's office did not take our insurance, they explained the pricing upfront, as well as offered exceptional customer service.
In addition, Dr. Mead conducted all the normal testing I've had with my own opthamologist when I've had issues with my eyes.
Dr. Mead had an exceptional bedside and professional manner that allowed my daughter to feel comfortable when she was extremely nervous about her irritated eye situation.

I've been a patient of Dr Derek for a long time. I just called in the morning and the secretary gave me a terrible attitude. I asked for an appoinment and she gave me a theee thirty appointment. I asked her to give me a late afternoon appointment and she said : "wells that's the afternoon" )with that bad attitude tone) .... What kind of answer is that? Dr Derek please check what's going on with your staff. That just happened a couple of minutes ago before writing this review.

I've seen Dr. Mead 2 years in a row for my optometry needs since moving to San Antonio. I was so impressed with his practice that my husband is also a patient and I have referred him to many friends.
One of the things I like about Dr Mead is that he spends adequate time with me and answers all of my (many) questions. He gave me options and explained each fully.
His staff was kind, attentive, and I was able to get an appointment right away. His office is open early, late, and every day of the week.

First time visit. Well let me explain we came in last week on a Saturday but even after calling and confirming our appointment and that they take my insurance when we came in they informed me that the Dr. That was in and I had an appointment with doesn't take my insurance I would have to come back. Now I'm back for my 5:20 appointment and I just got called back at 5:41, we got there early 5:10 to respect their schedule. Let's see how the exams go to finish the review. Not starting off well for the scheduling and confidence in the staff. Exam was ok but only option is to get eyes

I have been a patient of Dr. Mead for 3 years now. And before I moved from California I was his patient as well. So altogether almost 6 years. I immediately sought him out as soon as I got back in town. He is the only doctor that I recommend to anybody that is looking for an optometrist. Not only is he highly qualified, he has very gracious "bedside" manners (chairside?) :) He is always concerned with his patients previous history and future goals for their vision health. He has very reasonable hours, so I have never had a problem getting in to get an appointment, not even right before

Dr. Mead was very professional and quick - the two most important things to me! He listened to my concerns, checked my eyes, and wrote the necessary prescriptions for my contact lenses and glasses. He was spot-on and I can see perfectly again! I also love that Dr. Mead's staff got me a same-day appointment.

I have been going to Dr. Mead for three years now. I enjoy going here. I live on Canyon Lake and there are people much more convenient for me but I am always happy with my visits so I keep going.
*The Staff are very helpful and nice. There is always someone new but they are very knowledgeable and quick with service. I am guessing he hires young people going through school because they are always studying. I like that! It shows that he is someone who cares about others.
*The Doc always remembers me even though I only see him once a year. Pretty impressive. He will chat with you and get the visit

I have never been seen so quickly at the eye doctor before visiting Dr. Mead's office. His staff was super helpful and outgoing, which was a nice change from the office I used to visit. Dr. Mead was able to explain issues I've been having with my vision that another doctor had missed completely and let me know how to remedy the problem.
It doesn't hurt that he's also super goodlooking. :) I will definitely be returning.
