Upon high school graduation in 1970, I came to the Central Coast to attend college. After college I decided that the beautiful oceans, great atmosphere and friendly people were too wonderful to leave behind. By making San Luis Obispo my permanent residence, my new goal was to start a business that would provide quality service to people at a fair price.
Trying my skills in various service industry jobs, I found that I was most natural and happy with painting tools in my hands. In 1978, I founded The Brushworks with my wife. A painting company that combined quality workmanship along with top grade products has always been my base theme.

Mike and Leo were the painters sent out by Brushworks Paint to paint the trim on my house. Along with the fascia and door trim, there was a lot of redwood trim that needed painting over. They were on time each day and were polite and helpful. All questions from me were answered promptly and professionally.

Kudos to my Brushworks paint team. The crew, Kevin and Paul, and the owner, Wayne were exceptional in every way. These three men delivered on every phase and aspect of the job when painting my rental in SLO.
Upon 1st contact Wayne promptly scheduled a meet time with me and gave a fair and reasonable proposal for his crew to complete the work required. We spent at least an hour discussing some of the dry rot issues and construction repairs that needed to be completed before painting. Wayne also stopped in to see how things were going at least three different occasions.

I couldn't get many painters to call me back let alone do an estimate. Wayne and Kevin were great and easy to work with. This was for a rental unit and we handled everything remotely. The work was well done and completed on time. I highly recommend Brushworks Painting. You can't go wrong using them.

We hired Brushworks to paint some rooms in our new home before moving in. As we were living in a hotel, we were anxious to get the work done ASAP. Wayne went out of his way to make it happen and his crew worked 10 HR days to accommodate us even over the Thanksgiving weekend. Mary, his brilliant color expert, helped us choose perfect colors for our project. Mike, Kevin and David were a delight to have in our home. Very professional and considerate skilled painters. No blaring boom boxes as we have, experienced in the past. In all, a very good experience.

Brushworks is the best! They painted my kitchen cabinets and they turned out perfectly. I had added crown molding to the top and everything was painted seamlessly to look like it had always been there. They were very professional, prompt and worked very hard till the job was complete. Attention to detail was at the top of their list. I would definitely recommend Brushworks to anyone.

They are very sloppy unorganized people , and dont pay there painters on what they agree to do so, I painted for them in 100 degree weather in Paso and did pretty much all the work while the foreman talked on the phone the whole time and i end up getting my check after the job was done nicely and the owner totally scammed me and cutt about $300- $400 out of my pay. Dont hire brushworks very unprofessional and Disrespectful, thanks..

I hired Brushworks to paint two rooms for me that were an awful gold/green. They showed up on time and did the job in a timely way. They were so attentive to my requests. The paint job was perfect I am totally happy. I will for sure hire them for any of my future paint jobs. You will not be disappointed

I'll start by saying that we hired Brushworks to paint our condo interior and refinish kitchen cabinets because they have been in business since 1978 and the Yelp reviews were very positive. I wish I could say our experience with them accurately reflected your 5 star rating. It was anything but. Here's why:
* An estimate was made and we accepted it from estimator and signed the contract at the end of June, for work to begin on Aug. 1.
* On the Friday before work was to begin, we had heard nothing from Brushworks. No work schedule or crews, no paint bought ( this had already been decided

Brushworks refinished some cabinets and changed from a light to a dark stain. The job turned out good but not great. In fairness to the guy doing the work he got stuck with 18 year old sun-bleached cabinets and a big color change. The wood reacted poorly on some parts and the stain came out with some inconsistent areas. I think he did a good job for what he did but the wood was not his friend.
While not five stars I would recommend to my friends. Everyone from the company was professional and they tried but not everything is under their control.
