Dr. Gelb is a native of Chicago where she went to University of Illinois and graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Highest Distinction in Biological Sciences. She then went on to pursue her optometric degree at Illinois College of Optometry and graduated in 2004. Dr. Gelb attended her externships at West Side Veterans Hospital, Illinois Eye Institute and St. James Hospital.
Our skilled Doctor will determine your eyeglass prescription and evaluate your visual system. You will be examined for eye problems and diseases such as dry eyes, allergies, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and much much more. Our top priority is the health of your eyes. We want to keep your eyes healthy through regular comprehensive eye exams, communication, and patient education.
Heart Shaped Faces: Go well with Aviator or geometric frames that widen at the bottom to add width to the lower part of the face. Pear shaped Face: Work well with geometric frames that widen at the top to add width to the upper part of the face, such a geometric cat eye frame. Yes everyone wants to select a frame that looks good, but you should keep in mind that your frame has to hold your lenses properly.
Glaucoma is disease process that damages the optic nerve and causes a loss of vision. It is estimated that approximately 3 million people have glaucoma. Glaucoma is a silent, blinding disease. Unfortunately, it begins without any symptoms and will lead to progressive and permanent vision loss if not treated.

Great eye doctor who did a great and fast job. I came in with something stuck under my eyelid and it was horrible. Came in and the dr saw me within 10 mins which was awesome because it was killing me. She was able to get it out in no time. This is the second time this has happened to me( I don’t learn)and she helped both times.

Dr. Gelb and her staff were top notch. I was welcomed immediately upon entering the practice, and pleased that they were on time for my reserved appointment. Exam was thorough and comparable to previous exams elsewhere. Dr. and staff worked with me to get the maximum benefit out of my vision insurance coverage. Frame selection was good, and prices for frames and lenses were reasonable.

I called a bunch of places to see who would take my insurance. Not much luck. The staff at Chicago Eye Care happily took my insurance and got me an appointment within the hour. The whole process including paperwork took less than an hour for both my wife and I. It’s only been about 24 hours and I already have my new glasses. I will be going here from now on for all my eye needs. I appreciated the quick work and friendly atmosphere. Thank you!!!

I want to thank the Dr and staff at Chicago Eye Care Center! Made me and my wife feel like family. We both received eye exams for glasses and contacts. I’ve been seeing eye doctors for 40 years and this was honestly my favorite experience. Really great office. Service was personalized. I am so much happier coming here than the big chain like offices I used to frequent. I picked from a great selection of frames and got a pair of sunglasses at very great price. I’m happiest, though, with the detailed exam and Dr. Gelb’s knowledge of my astigmatism and dry eyes. Really professional!!
