A native Seattleite, John DeForest received architectural degrees from Yale and from Harvard's Graduate School of Design. After working with firms in New England, San Francisco, and Seattle, John founded DeForest Architects with a vision of developing a more collaborative, client-inspired approach to design.
Many firms focus on the 'what' of design. We are equally interested in the who, why, and how. That's why we built our practice around new ways to engage clients in the fun and creativity of the design process. Through collaboration, design becomes meaningful, and the experience rewarding. Connecting with clients' core values, experiences, and imagination helps us focus on the aspects of design that really matter.
Here's a look at construction progress on Whidbey Island - cedar siding, stone work and windows are really bringing this project together! A condominium remodel for a fun couple with eclectic taste in music and the most high-tech and unique finishes we've ever seen in a project! A Seattle-area family wants to create a "home away from home" in eastern OR.
We knew when we started this project it was a very special house, but now after living in it for a month we KNOW it is incredible. We are glad you guided us in creating something new that retains the integrity of what Roland Terry originally designed. DeForest Architects is inventive, thoughtful, and collaborative studio that brings people, buildings, and ideas together.
