Romul's

Romul's is the place to go if you want home cooked Italian food and to feel like family by the time you leave. Although the restaurant is small and quaint...it's cozy and I've never waited for a table. You can see all the staff constantly smiling (even through their masks). The food is always cooked fresh (and never microwaved.) You can't go wrong with the manicotti and tiramisu! Whenever my husband and I are due for a date night, Romul's is always number one on our list. We already can't wait to go back!

We were here visiting about 5 years ago. We had the ABSOUTELY the BEST ITALIAN FOOD HERE! Everything was Amazing!!! Romuls came to our table several times and explained and described everything on the menu qe had questions with and gave recommendatikn for an excellent wine fir our meal. With our dessert he treated us with a special drink. We were amazed at everything we ate. We've since tried so many italian restaurants across the states and NOTHING COMPARES!

Great experience!!! From the moment you enter the door the staff is so nice and friendly. That is what stands out for me. They made our evening lovely.

Our meals were delicious. We shared the small Caesar and the portion was large. I had the veal parm and the cheese was melty and gooey and the veal was very thin as I like it.

Triple chocolate cake was magical. Finished it off w espresso and sambuca. Ramul even sent over complimentary prosecco tastes of prosecco.

We will definitely be back for a third time.

Wow! What an amazing meal! If you want authentic, made fresh and from scratch Italian food definitely come here. We popped in on a whim and sat at the bar. Greeted by the owner and other friendly staff. Ordered 2 glasses of Tuscan blend red wine which was top notch yummy. They served us fresh warm bread. I ordered the Parmesan crusted cod which came with risotto and spinach. My husband ordered the lasagna. I should’ve took pictures. I about died and gone to heaven after my first bite. I wish I took photos but the food was so incredible I just enjoyed. I ordered the wild mushroom ravioli and my husband ordered the lasagna. My daughter ordered the kids Mac and cheese and got a little edible chocolate cup with chocolate mousse that she loved. My husband and I had a glass of Pinot noir. I've eaten a lot of Italian food and this by far was my favorite. Unfortunately we live in Washington state but anytime we are in Oregon this will be a place to stop at for dinner.

I've been here twice in the last month or so and have been very pleased! Romuls used to be in The Dalles and it was awesome. Romul is a very entertaining and energetic host if you have an opportunity to meet him.
The staff is very good, they are quick, but not too quick (meaning if you want to have a quick dinner here...you.can). They are knowledgeable and helpful. I always had water when I wanted water and more bread if I wanted that. Great service both times.

Great food that is worth the price. My party had the lasagna, chicken parm, and linguini and it was all fantastic.

This restaurant has so much! Gourmet level and old world styled Italian food, well anointed wine list, beautiful European-like decor and motifs, and Italian opera music that added to the romance of our date and celebration . The owner seated and served us, gave very honest menu recommendations and even brought us a couple of stems of sparking wine for our celebration. We really liked the atmosphere, very welcoming and authentic. The food was a bit above average. I ordered the Penne A La Vodka and really loved the sauce flavor. Unfortunately the chunks of chicken were very dry and the portion was pretty small. My daughter's Carbonara pasta was meh, a bit pasty and not much flavor. My husband did like his lasagna. It did turn us off that they charged us $5 for a soft drink and $5 for an ice tea. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal but definitely could use some improvement.

Had an incredible dinner experience! Entrees, both pasta & seafood, were delicious, and desserts were fantastic (sampled 4 of them + espresso). Service was also excellent, and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner himself. The fine dining for four people was also quite reasonably priced. Definitely will return next time I am in Hood River.

The service was fantastic. The drinks were yummy (old fashion). We had the caeser salad and bacon wrapped dates. Delicious main course, salmon with blackberries, penne a la vodka, mushroom ravioli (so so good) and manicotti. All were excellent. To top it off, their tiramisu was to die for. One of our go to places for special occasions and family get togethers. Family owned and operated, Romul remembers us every time and we don't get there as often as we would like to. Always great food, generous portions, excellent wine and wonderful deserts if we have room. Service is always outstanding

This place is amazing. Romul and Lilly (sp?) were charming. Pasta and sauces are all made in house. We are foodies with discriminating palates, and love when we find places and people who are passionate about great food. This is that kind of place, and these are those people! Wild mushroom ravioli in sherry cream sauce was perfectly balanced and delicious! Drinks were perfect. No complaints. 5 stars. We will be back!

We were in town on a weekday evening and Romul's was one of the only places that could seat us right away. Boy am I glad they could! We had the best experience there. The penne a la vodka was phenomenal and lasagna to die for. It was clear that many of the customers there went often as we heard people raving about various menu options. Can't wait to go back with family when we are in Hood River for our wedding in August! We were seated outside but the atmosphere inside looked so cute too!

The dishes and value for price here are not as advertised. I ordered the $22 spaghetti and meatballs - this is sadly the worst pasta I've ever had. I would've told our server but she was really hard to catch the attention of. The marinara tastes like tomato jelly - very sweet and under-seasoned. The meatballs were also under-seasoned and incredibly dry, quite difficult to cut into. I don't understand why you would serve this and serve it for $22. By the time I could get our server's attention, I just decided to close out and leave.

This pasta tastes so sour that my tongue turned sore from the sourness. This dish is specially recommended by the waiter. I told the waiter that the dish tasted v sour and they took it back to the kitchen. The same pasta returned to me, at its original condition that is sour. The kitchen never bothered to make the dish better. I again told the waiter that the pasta is the same as before. I don't bother with getting it changed anymore, and forced myself to eat it. Romul's has exceptional customer service, quality of food, and authenticity that delivers. This gem is family owned with pride and warmth. Can't wait to bring friends and family to the Hood River staple. Dessert is a must!

The food is fantastic and totally worth the price, but the short woman who seated me was really rude.

When I asked to not be seated near the front door (because, y'know, November chill that would sweep in everytime the door opened) she said "I'm not wasting a table" when the only other people in the restaurant was a couple in the corner. I asked for the only other two seat table away from the door and she heaved a sigh like this was a major task. Went here for Valentine's Day weekend dinner with some girl friends and it was nothing short of perfect! The lobster ravioli and vodka al penne were so rich and amazing. The servers and wine expert were so thoughtful and made great suggestions for pairings. To make things even better they gave us all a complimentary flute of champagne. Will definitely return! The customer service here went above and beyond.

I was planning a Friday through Tuesday trip to Hood River. I placed an order online and paid in advance for my dinner on Monday. On Saturday I got a call asking me if I had placed an order because it was ready for pick up. I told the lady on the other end of the phone that I placed the order for Monday. She said oh we had it for tonight, okay we will make it on Monday.

I cannot stress enough that they were right I selected the wrong day, they made what I wanted on the day I selected and were still willing to remake it for me on a different day

I got the penne vodka and it was delicious. It hit the spot and I didn’t even know I had that spot. The service was hospitable, we dined our on the front patio during the pandemic and the staff was respectful and had masks on. The place seemed clean and diners inside seemed to be having a good time as well. If you’re craving or don’t know if you want Italian I’d recommend this place.

I just ordered through there web site and was able to pay this was the only good thing. I ordered a lobster ravioli and it was very small and had no flavor ravioli was cooked in water bath and they were soggy. I also got a a spaghetti it was ok with not much
seasoning portion was ok, noodles were over cooked and meatballs were dry. The the desert I had was small. So over all the food was very overpriced for what I got. Folks - I have to tell you that the best Meatballs I have EVER HAD can be found at Romul's Restaurant. Hands down the best texture size and taste. The sauce is lovely with the taste of tomatoe paste and garlic just so heavenly. The sauce is so genuine and thick you can eat it with a fork.

A nice little Italian place in downtown Hood River. The menu posted on their website is out of date so here are some updated pictures. The outdoor seating was very nice. Our waitress was very attentive and had good suggestions. The bread that they bring you is delicious! The manicotti was delightful fresh sheets of pasta rolled around lots of ricotta I loved the combo of a red sauce and a white sauce in the same dish. Only thing I would have changed was to add more red sauce. The chicken parm was a bit underwhelming the chicken was a very thin piece of meat with almost equal amount of breading
