The charming simplicity of Sound View's guest rooms is influenced by classic Modernist, North Fork beachside homes. Every room has two sets of doors, one with direct access from the outside path system, the other with direct access to our private beach. They are perfectly situated to to disconnect completely from the world and reconnect directly with nature.
To get away is more than a feeling; it's a place on a map. Our Long Island Hotel is home to generations of mariners, navigators, farmers and makers tucked into an abundance of nature. Discover local farms, restaurants, shops and other area attractions without the crowds. At Sound View Hotel, take a painting class on the beach, sign up for a chef-led farm tour, or just lounge poolside.

Services
The story begins in our lobby lounge, where windows frame the Sound and travelers gather who appreciate a strong coffee along with their sunrise. For a longer linger, fold into a plush sofa surrounded by the works of North Fork artists. And at day's end, wind down with cocktails in-hand, as you watch the sun set over the Sound.
It will serve as a beachside outpost for guests and locals, offering home goods, wellness items, travel necessities, gift, apparel and accessories. Inside, light wood tones and neutrals decorate a modern and calming space. A wedding at the Halyard and Sound View Greenport hotel means guests never need to leave the premises, and with spectacular nightly sunsets, they won't want to.
Our Brooklyn-based designer, Studio Tack, enlisted a host of makers to craft a new collection of suites, each with two separate bedrooms, two ensuite bathrooms, a full kitchen, and an open-concept living and dining room. Creating a seamless connection to the waterfront, floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto a private porch where panoramic views offer a not-so-subtle reminder that here, the Long Island Sound is your refuge.
Our Brooklyn-based designers Studio Tack partnered with a host of makers on our rooms. They are warm & familiar. Floors are made from recycled rubber and every wall is layered with solid shiplap cedar. Colors reflect the sand, the sea, and the sky, while bent metal pays homage to the fishing trawlers that still ply these waters.
The ADA Deluxe Rooms at Sound View feature accessible entry, ADA bathrooms, ramp access from the room to the shared deck overlooking the Sound, and accessible hotel grounds including lobby, restaurant, and common areas. There is limited ADA beach access and the pool is not ADA accessible. Soundview is a pet-friendly hotel, so all service animals are welcome.

Only good thing about hotel was the view of the water. The service was terrible, the hotel was empty and they couldn't let us check in early without me calling 10X... I guess they think because they have a great location they can treat customers poorly. Room was nothing great, overall look at the view online and save your $$$.

The hotel should improve the following: answering the phone at the front desk. Cleaner rooms and better furnishings. An overall staff that is accommodating. The hotel felt like a 1 star motel. You pay premium prices, you expect your experience to be the same

The location is excellent with unrestricted water views although there is some noise from the adjoining main road that comes through. The staff are friendly and helpful.
I would have given it a higher rating but for the "resort fee". In general, I hate these fees which are never shown when the room rate is advertised but to charge it in the off-season when the pool is not usable is unfair. They also try to tag on an "optional" donation for beach recovery. This kind of charge should be voluntarily added with my consent at check in or check out and not something I have to request to have removed

I wanted to be able to give a higher rating but I just can't. When you arrive the place is beautiful, modern, clean, staff is polite. We were told that there was a continental breakfast included (cold box store croissants, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and granola). Our room was beautiful, clean, comfortable with the gorgeous view of the water. That's where the beauty ended and the serine get away ended. The walls are so thin, you can hear the traffic, the water (which is nice but when it is high tide and rough it is very loud), you can also hear conversations in the next room. The gentleman

September weekdays are quiet and the restaurant is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The rooms and beach views and access are lovely. The additional daily amenity fee of $48 on top of the already high price was annoying. It supposedly includes a tip for the housekeeping staff which is ok but also the WiFi, parking and the minimal continental breakfast. We were in a Junior suite which was very comfortable but noises did carry through the walls and floor above.
The staff tries hard but they are clearly stretched.
We did enjoy our stay and would come back.

If I could do 4.5 I would, but I feel that it gets more than a four. First of all, if you love simple, modern design and a gorgeous view of the water, this place is for you. The staffing shortage was intense everywhere in Aug 2021, including here, but they managed to pull it off. Our 2 BR suite was spotless, and the kitchen is full size and well equipped. The bedrooms are not equal—one is an ocean view King and the other is a no view Queen, so know that. Super comfy for our group. I loved swimming in the ocean and pool, the food at the restaurant was good and I thought that the Sound Views activities

The view the room offers is a definite 5 Stars. The room themselves are large, private and each have a balcony view of the ocean. The restaurant is upscale with great customer service. The food although is pricey is extremely fresh and well cooked. The hotel is not in the middle of town but only a few minutes out. This is the place I will continue to stay when in Greenport.

Beautiful beachfront hotel! Stayed at the Sound View for a week with my husband and daughter and we had a great time. All the rooms face the private beach w/ a balcony to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The service was excellent. We enjoyed spending time at the hotel beach and pool. The hotel restaurant, the Halyard is the best in the area.

The woman at the front desk is condescending and rude. She should take a lesson from the rest of the staff who were very kind and helpful. There was so many things not working in our suite that the service staff was there on and off our entire 3 day brief stay. The pool closes at 6 which was disappointing. The drinks at the pool - my vodka/tonic was $18 - were grossly overpriced. The continental breakfast was paltry.
I would not recommend this place.
I gave it a star for the view and another one for the staff excluding the front desk person.

The junior suite rooms are quite nice and spacious but have a major design flaw - there isn't a drawer or shelf anywhere to unpack clothes! The closet had space for built-in drawers but there wasn't even a luggage rack in there, just a single hanging rod. For the week of our stay our clothes were folded on the floor by our suitcases. The tiny bathroom had 1 small shelf under the pedestal sink and that was it for storage in there. It was super inconvenient for 3 ladies to have to unpack our toiletries every time we used the bathroom and re-pack as we left the room.

We had the absolute best stay at this hotel. Our room was lovely and modern, but our favorite part was how close we were to the ocean. We fell asleep listening to the waves washing up on the shore, and we enjoyed our morning coffee every morning on our own section of porch overlooking the water. We enjoyed dinner one night at The Halyard and it was very good (we had the oysters with steak for two and a solid Barbera; dessert looked amazing but we were too full!). The pool and beach bar were other wins. We’re looking forward to returning soon. Definitely recommend!

Great location and fab decor. Could be so so great but for the service:
1) we asked for housekeeping and they made the bed but nothing else, left us with trash, dirty glasses etc
2) they charged us an amenity fee but there were no amenities. The restaurant was closed and "fitness" involved paying to rent bikes
3) no one answered the front desk phone. We called 6 times over the course of 3 days and only got lucky twice and left a message that no one picked up. When we physically walked down to get help, the lady at the desk shrugged when we told her we had been ringing the front desk

A lovely resort not too far from Brooklyn!
Stayed here this past weekend. Even though the weather was drab, the view from the room, staff and food/drink at Halyard was excellent. The room was incredibly clean, i feel like it was just redone (YAY!) and at the end of the room block, so it felt more private and was quiet. Also, can't complain about sleeping to the sounds of waves.
The only complaint I did have was that the TV didn't work all weekend and they charge a resort fee/tax even though there aren't currently any resort activities, so that probably needs to be explained more

My wife and I stayed there Christmas Eve and the following day. We stayed in room 110. It was clearly updated because everything looked new and clean. We were right on the water which was very nice. We knew the restaurant was going to be closed due to the pandemic and it being Christmas eve, but the small town only about a 10 minute backroad drive away had a lot to offer. It wasn't too cheap but it was the peace and quite we were looking for coming from the city.
All in all the staff was very pleasant and our room was very relaxing. The ONLY thing I would probably change is the pull down

Just stayed at Sound View for my honeymoon and I was disappointed. I will say that the view is incredible and the food at the restaurant is delicious BUT the moment I walked into the hotel, I went to check out the bathroom and I fell because the floor was wet! I hurt my knee and scratched up my arm pretty bad! When they brought me an ice pack it wasn't even frozen. Now I have a huge bruise on my knee and a scar on my arm.
Also in the span of two days we killed 6 spiders inside the room! We had to call them three different times before someone finally came to clean up the spiders. Outside

My husband and I went during the winter and loved every second of it. The hotel staff were extremely attentive, the room was straight out of a dream and the view was worth every penny. We were very lucky at the vineyards all day and then having perfect weather for a light blanket on the balcony. With the sliding doors cracked we could hear the ocean all night and felt very safe. We did not seem to have traffic noise but again it was the winter.
The restaurant was superb! The seafood is fresh, the presentation simple and beautiful, the local food is always what I am looking for. I think

It's currently 5:30am and I've slept for about 30-minutes total. My fiancé and I came here for a quiet weekend getaway from the noise of NYC and neither of us have ever slept this poorly. To start: the noise from the road is horrendous. When we arrived we noticed the sound but thought it would die down at night - we were sadly mistaken. It feels as though the trucks are driving right through your bedroom. Secondly: the internal sound proofing is non-existent. Our neighbors were clearly having a good time and we might as well have split the cost and slept in the extra bed in their room

There's a lot to like about Sound View -- the stretch of private beach, the comfortable, chicly updated rooms (who knew wood paneling could be so beachy?), nice bath/body products, the easy access to vineyards and other area attractions... The restaurant was closed on both days we visited, but on the last morning we grabbed some coffee at the continental breakfast and absolutely loved the bright, airy lounge space. Such a well-appointed little area.
I definitely struggled with this rating because our two night stay was more positive than not, but it's hard to justify the cost. Even
