After the Chicago fire of 1871, Chicago was in an obvious rebuilding stage. Over the next several decades Aug. Burke Roofing continued to grow steadily and was eventually passed down to August's son, Stephen Burke. Servicing Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, Aug. Burke Roofing became a pillar in the roofing community.
Stephen would eventually have sons of his own, one of whom was Robert E. Burke, Sr. After a distinguished career with The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bob received honorable discharge papers from J. Edgar Hoover. Upon his retirement from the FBI, Bob went to work for the family business, Aug. Burke Roofing.
