Montessori Child Development Center is devoted in carrying out the work of Dr. Maria Montessori. We strive to provide children with academic excellence, utmost care, understanding, guidance, respect, and a beautiful and safe environment. We are an authentic Montessori school centered in nurturing the uniqueness of the developing child.
Our school emphasizes greatly on respect. This transcends to all avenues: respect in education, respect for others, respect for life, respect for the environment, and respect for one self. Through respect, children grow and learn by understanding that they are an integral part of this world. Dr. Montessori defined Casa Dei Bambini, as "children's home."

The most important period of life is not the age of university studies but the period from birth to the age of six. Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) an Italian physician, educator, and anthropologist revolutionized the way on how we value and educate children today. Dr. Montessori devoted her studies to the field of education and discovered universal principles underlying the development of children.
MCDC adheres strictly to a policy of non-discrimination, and no child will be refused admission solely on the basis of race, color, sex, or national origin. Children are accepted from the age of 18 months through 3 years for the Pre-Primary class, 2 1/2, 3 through 6 for the Primary Class, and 6 through 12 years for the Elementary Program.
Birth to three is the most important time in a child's life. Dr. Montessori said that during this time, we must free the child to go on with his task of self-creation. Our foundation in the Toddler Program is to assist the child in self-creation. Our uniquely prepared toddler environment meets the young child's need for self-creation.
Three to six is the stage of the "Absorbent Mind". This is the period when conscious learning begins to appear. Children learn from their environment by direct interaction with the core Montessori materials. These are the formative years for laying the foundation for future learning. Interactions with friends during this three-year period establish a community within the classroom.

My son first started at Newport Montessori when he was almost 2 years old. He had a difficult time transitioning, as this was his first school. While he learned a lot, his social skills were lacking, as the teachers there where not the warmest people I've ever met. He was there for one year and then transferred to Montessori CDC right before his third birthday. Since starting here, he has flourished tremendously! He now plays with friends and shares more frequently with regard to what is on his mind. The teachers (and owners) at Montessori CDC truly care about their kids and this has made my son
