As a relocated New Englander who has made the Triangle home since 1996, I can attest to how wonderful this area is. As an active member of my community and with 2 children in the public school system, I have valuable information to share. Having worn the many hats of out-of town buyer, seller, renter and landlord, I will guide you through it all.
Are you looking for an accessible home for sale, or are you looking to sell your accessible home? Then contact a realtor who knows the inside scoop. I am a real estate professional who specializes in accessible homes, Universal Designed homes, and "age in place" homes in the Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, RTP areas of North Carolina.
Hi! My name is Karen Barbour. I am a signing Realtor who actively works with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community in the Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, RTP areas of North Carolina. I grew up with a sister who was born deaf. After graduating from college I worked in the Boston Deaf Community for many years.
Whether you are a senior who has arthritic knees, a child with a physical disability, or even a young mother with a baby on her hip and a grocery bag in her other hand, having a zero step entry makes life easier and safer. At least one no-step entry to the house either through the front, back, or garage door is recommended.
Each day, more and more adults and seniors choose homes in which they can age in place rather than move to a retirement community, an assisted living facility or the home of a family member. The decision to live in comfort amongst familiar surroundings is a great choice for many. But does your home have features that can accommodate the aging process?

Karen is an amazing realtor. She is kind, patient, knowledgable, very professional and has a warmth and authenticity that makes her unique in the business. Karen also specializes in accessible homes, is fluent in sign language and very sensitive to special needs. I've dealt with several realtors in the past several years due to job relocations and she is, by far, the best I've ever experienced. Very highly recommended!
