My focus is on designing custom homes and enlightened remodels that are uniquely designed for you and your property. For over twenty-five years, I've been doing only residential work in Western North Carolina, including the premier communities of Biltmore Forest, Biltmore Park, Walnut Cove, Balsam Mountain Preserve, The Sanctuary, Laurel Ridge, Wildcat Cliffs and others.
Working on my own assures my Clients that they receive my own, personal undivided attention to their project. I begin the design process by analyzing my client's needs and the site specifics then synthesize a perfect solution. A true custom come is the combining of a Client's input and then shape it to make it fit the property and take full advantage of what the Land has to offer.

These Clients told me their dream home was an Adirondack Lodge in the Mountains of Upstate New York. So, that's what I designed. They had purchased a Mountain top property just outside Waynesville, NC which was a perfect opportunity to design a home that would take full advantage of the sun and views.
My clients showed me exterior photos of what they both liked and I noticed they were all the same Arts and Crafts Bungalow style home plan, probably from an old Sears Home Catalogue. Some had stucco, some brick, some lap siding, but all the same design. Sounds simple enough but their property was on a ridge overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains with a HUGE view.
These Clients' primary residence was probably one of THE BEST homes in Vero Beach (Windsor), so I knew they had high expectations for their mountain home. They had definite goals in mind, the first being to take advantage of their property at Balsam Mountain Preserve. The development itself had very specific requirements to assure Owners that the homes would fit the property and not look like a subdivision in Atlanta or Houston.
If it's possible to have a favorite home, this is mine, or I should say, my family's. We built this "Shingle Cottage" on Kiawah Island, back in 1990. My first wife had leukemia and, while our 6 and 8 year old daughters and I had hoped she would recover, she never got to see the home completed. But to our family it is so much more than just a home to us.
After a prospective client decided he was going to buy our home in Beaverdam Valley, we decided to simplify and downsize our home and lives. There's a nice article on this in the navigation bar under "Press". We bought this home, about on third the size, in an older established neighborhood, also in North Asheville.
