Paul and Regina Santos had a vision of bringing a mix of authentic Portuguese and Brazilian dishes to the small town of South River. Their solution was the opening of Campozino Restaurant in September of 2014. As you walk in, our warm and traditional dining rooms are filled with the aroma of Chef Carlos Lopes delicious creations.
Our dishes are a mixture of traditional Portuguese cuisine, as well as unique traditional twists. They all have one thing in common - Flavor. Call ahead for a reservation in any of our 3 dining rooms, have a seat at the bar, or book your event in our gorgeous dining room.

I went here for the first time based on great reviews from friends. It did not disappoint. I sat at the bar and was helped out by Ana. As it was my first time here she walked me through a few of the specials. When I told her it was my first time she recommended the garlic octopus and the lamb chop special.
The break was hot and the salad was amazing. The octopus was fantastic and the lamb chop in Dijon sauce was prepared perfectly. I was more than pleasantly surprised and I will be back.

Our first time at Capozino did not disappoint. The tiger prawns were amazing. The shrimp in garlic was very good, but the medium sized shrimp were not cleaned. We thoroughly enjoyed the sangria.
Very good service and large portions. We felt the prices were a bit high compared with comparable restaurants in the area. Everything was fresh and prepared well.
Meter parking is available on the street.

We were invited here for an 80th birthday celebration last Sat.and it was a buffet style dinner. Service was great! Everyone was so nice & attentive. The only thing that stuck I'm my head was the soup which was the first meal that they served was "cold" or room temp. Other than that the buffet choices were OK. Sangria was good, too.

We ate at this restaurant for the first time this evening. Having grown up and lived in Northern NJ for many years we had come to know most of the restaurants down neck in Newark on and around Ferry St, so now having moved to Ocean County, we had not found any replacement for a Portuguese restaurant that is comparable. Well, we've found one now! Campozino is fantastic!. The atmosphere is every bit Ferry St Newark, even though you're on Ferry St in South River. I had the Seafood in a light tomato sauce, and it was better than I've ever gotten in Newark. My husband had the steak and

One time my ex boyfriend wrote a bad review about this place all because he didn't get his way even though the staff was trying to be extremely accommodating. So if you see a 1 star review by Melvin Gonzalez, ignore it. He ate here multiple times and he loved the food, but felt the need to leave a bad review because he's childish. Anyway...food and sangria here are amazing. Pre Covid i also attended a few brunches in the party room that were so much fun. I have never had a bad experience here. I have not been to dine in during Covid, but have gotten take out numerous times and will continue

This is our usual go to place on a Friday night, however, tonight they rocked it! Traditional collard green soup was a great start and only the tip of the iceberg. My husband got the Chilean sea bass with champagne reduction, which was AMAZING. It came with veggies and mashed potato and was perfectly cooked. I got the ribeye with mushroom and spinach risotto. If you haven't had this chef's risotto, you are missing out. My steak was a perfect med-rare and melted in your mouth. The sangria was a perfect accompiment, as always. We were too stuffed for dessert, maybe next week!

I've only been here once but I will DEFINITELY be back. Food was really really good. My wife and I had calamari as an appetizer and although it wasn't the best, the portion made up for that. Now the Ribeye steak I had was perfect! Cooked exactly as I requested and tasted great. It came with a stuffed portobello mushroom, that was also amazing, rice, vegetables and chips. My wife had the whole snapper that she was very pleased with. Overall, great ambiance good distance away from others dining, clean and great food. I would highly recommend trying it.

Did you ever have an experience that makes you think your somewhere else?
With the difficult time with the regulations you would think quality and service would suffer a little.
I can assure you that Campozino's is an experience that you should enjoy.
The staff is attentive and polite. The food was exceptional.
When I received my bill I had to question the manager as to a mistake.
She assured me it was correct. I would have paid double!
My beautiful date and myself enjoyed our trip to Portugal!

Had stop for early dinner. Had the barbecue salted cod fish and baby back ribs. The presentation was nice but, the fish needed another day to be in the water since it was extremely salty. Ribs were okay. The food was okay and will try again. They do have a unpaved parking lot. Place was clean and waiters attentive.

I have had Campozino on my radar for months and this Saturday night my group of 8 secured a 7pm reservation. Campozino is located in downtown South River. A parking lot is available and there is plenty of street parking as well.
The restaurant looks sharp, decorated nicely and the wonderful scent of meat roasting on the charcoal grill flows throughout the restaurant.
Seating is quick and efficient, drinks are brought quickly. Our first round was their Red Sangria, half the table liked it, the other half so much. Their version of Sangria is very sweet and has heavy hints of Peach juice or Peach

I am not too fond of Rodizios but I had an opportunity to try Campozino in South River and I am glad I did! The restaurant sits in a large building off Main Street; it does not have parking but there is a convenient lot across the street. As you enter the restaurant you are embraced by the mouthwatering smells from the kitchen and grill and the slightly louder than usual crowd. There is a large bar that takes up most of the main dining area which after walking a little closer you realized is where the grilling is taking place! Right behind the bar counter!!! Nice surprise!!! You see how your
