In my 48 years of practicing Acupuncture and related Oriental Medicine arts, I've learned 40 different styles of acupuncture. I won't bore you with the list, but will say that there are many ways to help almost any condition with one approach or another. Acupuncture helps restore balance within your body at every level.
A: Acupuncture is good for many types of health problems besides pain relief. Both the World Health Organization and the National Institute of Health in the U.S. have made statements regarding the conditions for which acupuncture may be useful. And because acupuncture works with the body rather than against it, many times a deeper kind of healing will occur.
For more than 4,000 years, people in the Orient have used Herbal Medicine to help them heal. The system of healing developed over that time is not only one of the oldest on Earth, it is also one of the most comprehensive. The reason Chinese Medicine is so effective is that before anything else we identify the underlying pattern of imbalance in the body.
Did you know that you are actually very different, biochemically speaking, from every other person who ever was or ever will be? It's true. Your body's biochemical makeup is as unique as your fingerprints! For genetic reasons, we're all very different in the way that our bodies process foods and utilize nutrients.
Most of the time, and usually outside of our everyday awareness, we are working to find our balance - be it spiritual, mental, emotional, structural, biochemical or environmental. This process of continual balancing is called homeostasis. At a physiological level, this balancing act involves numerous processes that are constantly adjusting to keep us on track and healthy.
