He served his county in the Navy as a young man and after completing his tour of duty, went on to Sacramento State, in 1975, to obtain his BA in Criminal Justice. He loved to read, tell jokes, cook, sing and take hikes in the Desert. He then served his church as a pastor, providing spiritual guidance for 20 years.
