The founder of Advocates for the Independent, Kim Tweedel, knows what it's like to be in desperate need of compassionate, skilled care at home for a loved one. Her grandmother was placed in a nursing home in 2008, and the conditions were less than ideal. As a respiratory therapist, she decided to leave her career behind to provide the care her grandmother needed and deserved.
At Advocates for the Independent, we're well known as the top choice for senior home care in Houston and the surrounding areas for good reason. While we don't know exactly what you're going through, we do know what it's like to have an older loved one in need of care at home. We know what it's like when that senior endures poor care, and the feeling that we want to do everything in our power to correct the situation.

I'm at a restaurant where one of your clients was accompanied by one of your employees. The caretaker sat in her chair and didn't even lift her eyes to look at the woman she was with. She sat on her phone as this poor woman walked with her walker to the restroom, struggling with the door and who knows what other help she may have needed once inside. The caretaker did say 'You ok?' when the woman returned and that was it until they left. I will never consider this company for my parents or anyone else in need of assistance.
