Services
At Canine Rehab of New York, we are dedicated to a comprehensive approach to caring for your pet. Whether your pet is recovering from orthopedic or neurological surgery, healing from an injury, dealing with osteoarthritis, or in need of weight loss, an individual program can be designed to achieve the best results for your pet.
An initial evaluation with our certified rehab specialists includes a comprehensive history and a thorough physical examination. We develop an individualized treatment plan based on your pet's needs and goals. Rehab sessions are an hour long and include those modalities and exercises most appropriate to your pet's needs.
Manual therapy consists of joint mobilizations and soft tissue mobilizations including myofascial release techniques, and passive range of motion. These techniques are non-invasive and improve mobility, decrease pain and optimize function. Massage is very beneficial to reduce pain and swelling and improve soft tissue mobility.
An exercise program is developed specifically for your pet to help with strength, mobility, flexibility and balance, all to improve your pet's quality of life. We utilize specialized equipment such as balance boards, bosu discs, cavaletti's as well as ramp walking. We will provide appropriate exercise progression and guidance as well as teaching you exercises for you to help your pet at home.
Modalities include laser, extracorporeal shockwave (acoustic wave therapy), transcutaneous electrical stimulation (TENS), neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), ultrasound therapy, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) and cryotherapy. The various modalities increase blood flow to the treated areas thereby decreasing pain and inflammation to stimulate the healing of soft tissue structures and improve joint health.

When my 4 year old Morkie was diagnosed with an autoimmune neurological condition and woke up one day with his left side paralyzed and no proprioception on his left front paw, it was a difficult and challenging time. He had never spent a night away from us and suddenly he was admitted for further testing. He returned to us a distrusting and unmotivated dog. He was a shadow of his former self. Canine Rehab was a blessing, they were clearly patient with him given his difficult behavior and he grew to love going there. We saw significant progress after more than two months and while his left front

My girl Lucy has been here for two sets of rehab appointments - she tore a ligament in her knee last year and then the other side this year. The staff at Canine Rehab are so nice and really responsive with questions and as accommodating as possible with appointments. Lucy loves going there! We feel lucky to have this resource to guide her healing so she can regain her strength in a safe way.

Just had our first PT session at Canine Rehab and they are absolutely incredible. Dr. Brown gave our pup the most thorough exam to assess which forms of therapy would be best for him and her team was so patient and gentle. He is usually very anxious, especially around new people, but he took to them almost immediately.
If your fur baby ever needs rehab, I highly recommend Canine Rehab!

I can't say enough about the therapy my dog is receiving here. After four sessions she is walking so much better than she was before (she has arthritis in her back legs), has so much more energy, and just seems happier. She even enjoys going to therapy. The staff are very nice, with good communication. Five stars!!

A dedicated and caring team that got our dog back on her feet after multiple surgeries for her badly broken back legs. She received a tailored plan of water treadmill, laser therapy, obstacle course, and stretching to increase the mobility in her back legs. My dog loves going here. Couldn't recommend CRNY more.
