You can think of us as a family doctor for your pet. Marion Animal Hospital is a general practice able to treat your pet's every day and acute health care needs. If the need arises, we can refer your pet to a specialist to ensure the best treatment possible for your pet. Our knowledgeable staff and our facilities allow us to deal with a variety of medical conditions your pet may experience.
Marion Animal Hospital was established in 1970 by Dr. Robert Fanton, at its current location of 448 7th Avenue. Dr. Fanton did both small animal medicine and some equine work. The practice was purchased in 1983 by Dr. Marvin Schmitt. Dr. Schmitt discontinued equine work to focus on small animal medicine.
Dr. Ryan Bock grew up on a dairy farm in Missouri and owes a lot of his love of animals to his family, especially his grandmother, who started the family in the dairy business. He did his undergraduate work achieving a Bachelor of Science degree at College of the Ozarks, a small college in southwestern Missouri.

We've just visited twice with our new puppy and loved this vet clinic. Super clean facility; the doctor sat right down on the ground to examine and play with my puppy. My pup is very squirmy and frightened by new experiences, so this approach worked great as apposed to the examination table. I got there at the wrong time, but they worked us in quickly and all the staff were very nice to work with.

Our little guy was turned away from the emergency vet after hurting his foot (without them even checking out his bleeding foot). We had to wait until the next morning to get him into Marion Animal Care, but without hesitation or an appointment they took a look at his foot and determined he needed some extra care. I picked him up that afternoon with a full report and they checked in a week later to see how he was doing. It's always nice when you can trust leaving your best friends in the hands of competent and caring people.

We have taken our dog, Buddy, to Dr. Bock for his entire life. Dr. Bock was a wonderful partner in our dog's health care. He is kind, attentive, cost & treatment sensitive and warm. I always thought his voice sounded like radio's Dave Ramsey. This hospital offers a personal touch, follow-up calls to our home and conservative and effective treatment and caring. In the final days of our pet's nearly 16 year life, Dr. Bock was there to help all the way. We highly recommend Dr. Bock and Marion Animal Hospital.

We had tried a few other vets in the area when we got our dog and weren't happy until we found the Marion Animal Hospital. They impressed us from the start. They were SO helpful when I called with silly new-pet-parent questions and were so excited to see our pup any time we visited. Our dog doesn't get scared when he's there, which is a huge plus!

Love, love this clinic. Very caring and compassionate care. The staff love their job and it shows. I appreciate that they give you options and are up front about cost, even giving you better economical choices while still trying to do the best for our pets. I needed insulin for my cat and since my vet was out of the kind my cat uses, she sent me to Marion Animal Hospital to pick some up. It was a Saturday and they close at noon. I arrived there at 11:50 only to realize I left my wallet at the Sandwich shop down the road. I told the receptionist that I knew they closed at noon so I'd have to return back on Monday for the insulin. When I picked up my wallet I called Marion Animal Hospital at 11:58 to say that I'd be back for the insulin after all. However they had already closed. I've lived in the country my whole life until now, and this was my first "in town" vet experience. This place has amazing staff! All of the vet assistants and Dr. Bock himself were very friendly and seemed to genuinely care for the pets in their custody. They told me I could call after a certain time later that day to see how Kitty was doing, and Dr. Bock also "debriefed" me on future care and other general information the next morning when I went to pick her up.
