The Orlo School of Hair Design and Cosmetology is an independent, privately-owned cosmetology school devoted to educating new cosmetology industry professionals. Our students move on to a variety of careers, from working as hairdressers, makeup artists and estheticians to owning independent beauty salons and representing major industry product companies.
At our cosmetology school, we're interested not only in the creative aspects of cosmetology but the business of our industry, as well. Our students are prepared to start their own careers, and if they choose, to start their own businesses. While they learn how to style the looks of the individuals in front of them, they also learn how to attract new clients and how to retain them.

Gotta say, had reservations at first... But two of my GFs went & were 👍🏻👏🏻about it. I’m on a budget, hadn’t had my hair cut in 1 1/2 years! My stylist (Kate) did an awesome job, overseen by instructor entire time. (Although, took 1 & 1/2 hours...). Couldn’t say enough about this place. It’s like, you’re donating your body to science- only you live to brag about it after!!! 😋😋😋 I say, invest in our future! ❤️

Getting salon service here is a WIN/WIN. I HIGHLY recommend it. I got a GREAT haircut today and will be going back for highlights. Not only do you get a good deal, but you're helping a student learn their trade. The instructors oversee EVERYTHING, so there's little chance of disaster. Sure, it takes some patience- but it's WELL worth it.

Note, I'm reviewing this as a haircutting location, not as a school.
They offer haircuts cheap by their students, but this comes with the expected caveats. I thought I was very clear in describing what I wanted (cut off 2/3 of the current length) and yet he very shyly trimmed a few millimeters off the ends (maybe 4% of the current length). I expect your experience to vary, but keep this in mind.
Otherwise, I'll note that they are nice, and that the environment is good. I recommend this place if you're willing to take the noted risk.

I went to Orlo after work, so it was about 5:30 on a weekday. There were no other costumers which was fine. However, all the students just sat around talking about all the drama in their lives while using plenty of profanity (and I swear a lot, just never in my workplace). The hair cut that I received was fine, although shorter than requested, but I'm not too picky. The only place I will get my hair done is a hair academy in Seattle so I figured this would be ok. There were no instructors around to check any of the work the students were doing, and the salon did not feel very clean to
