Capital View Cafe
Capital View Cafe & Catering is a family owned and operated cafe. In October of 1993, the Ramirez and Lucken family would use their many years of restaurant experience to revive a small cafe in need of new owners. The new venue would be named Capital View Cafe because of the spectacular view of our state capital from Smith Avenue.

Our cafe offers Mexican and American breakfast, lunch and catering. Specializing in home-made recipes and sauces made from scratch, our large portions are sure to please. Our friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere will make you feel right at home. We thank you for your patronage and look forward to continuing our relationship with all of our loyal customers.
Services
Chicken sauted with pepper, onion and house salsa served over a cheddar cheese omelet and topped with sour cream. Golden hashbrowns layered with scrambled eggs and fried onions and topped with melted cheddar cheese. Served with toast. Chorizo sausage scrambled with eggs and hashbrowns topped with a tortilla and smothered with Southwestern ranchero sauce.

Someone at a local hotel suggested this place, and I am so glad! We took family from out of town here, and they were disappointed they weren't able to eat here every day they were here. We feel fortunate that we can come back, now that we've found this little gem. Delicious food, several Mexican twist choices, overall can't go wrong, and will leave more than satisfied. Great for all ages and all size parties.

Usually a good place for breakfast. Not sure if chef had a bad day, but other than the eggs, the rice was clumped together like they were leftovers and the beans were tasteless and cold. Not much flavor to the salsa. And why waste salad fixings and add them to a breakfast plate. Could never figure that out. We'll be back, but not for a long time. Hopefully next time it'll be better.

I ordered take out. I had the everything omelet, fried potatoes and cinnamon raisin toast. The omelet was good. The toast was burnt and the potatoes had good flavor but over cooked as well. My husband had the bone in ham. Very big and juicy. Shredded hash brown which was burnt as well. The eggs were fine. Overall, I can give them another try. It maybe better the next time.

Went there with my wife and 2 friends. Ordered the spicy skillet and coffee. It was all very good. Wish I had a photo. It would have been spoken a 1000 words. Thanks to our server for the quick service and the table lady that kept the coffee coming. We sat at table 90 on 10/30 at 9 am. Maybe the manager can be notified.

My nice and I had the best breakfast. The stuffed french toast with caramel and pecans had whole pecan halves (my 2 choices), not bits and pieces. The hash browns were perfectly crispy on the outsides, tender in the middle. The ham was grilled on both sides not microwaved. I can't say enough about their food The service was excellent and talking with the owner made me realize that this a different cafe than it was 3+ years ago. I will definitely eat here more often.

Silently working my way around the Minneapolis-St Paul N,S,E & W Metro area. For what I feel is The BEST Cajun Breakfast. As a Country Boy originally from Bayous of Louisiana. I feel I’m qualified😂🤷🏾‍♂️
With a 4.5🌟 I genuinely had high hopes.
Original presentation was positive. Then went downhill… FAST.
I’ve never had it with Hashbrowns that were Luke warm, DRY & flavorless. Tasted like 3hrs old, under a warming lamp. The Hollandaise was bland. I always get Andouille, which was cubed/diced & added👀😞 Instead if on the side. Like the cook was trying to hide it in

Service was mediocre too good
They meant well
the dirty carpet is what blew me on top of the trash being on the carpet no one picked that up throughout our visit
for the carpet itself its completely filthy
we had a slice of pie also to go and it was amazing
we do appreciate the service that they could offer however we did not like the sign at our table you only have one hour to dine in

I thought this place was GREAT! My friends and I went after church today. The staff were friendly and attentive, despite the fact that they had just gotten a group of 40 people in just before us. I ordered the rojo pork and it was DELICIOUS! Great flavor, slightly spicy, and a generous portion. In fact, I would have liked it just slightly spicier, but I'm from the south. The refried beans were rich and tasty, too. We will definitely be back!

I love this place. Even during a limited capacity in a pandemic, they always got me in quick. The decor is charming and I love the Tex mex breakfast thingy.

This used to be one of my favorite places for breakfast. Today's experience changed that and I won't be back. Food was greasy, undercooked, missing multiple ingredients, and service was slow.

Best breakfast around. A greasy-spoon (in a good way: a few with some traditional griddle items on the menu), with a creative & South/Central American twist. The breakfast quesadilla is a lot of food, which is great if I'm really hungry or want half of it later as leftovers.

I cannot recommend. terrible service. Mediocre expensive food, don't pay with a credit card or you will be charged extra. I was told by the cashier I should bring cash with me.

We have given this place many more chances since my last review and have definitely had better experiences. It is great, cozy, neighborhood cafe with good breakfast and large portion sizes. The service isn't anything amazing, but definitely sufficient. This is our go to breakfast place when friends/family are in town or when we just want to walk to breakfast on the weekend. Definitely recommended!

All the tables were dirty so we had to sit right next to the A/C which was very uncomfortable. I ordered the Fajitas which came with no plates and one napkin. The steak was cutc into chunks so i had to cut it myself with a butter knife because they don't give you a steak knife. Everything was good except the rice, tasted old? Also forget trying to get the waitress to help you ever the bus boy checked on us instead and I wish he could get the entire tip because he deserved it.

I'll never be back, that's for sure.

It's been a long time since I've had Eggs Benedict. These were very good. Loved them. I've lived in the neighborhood for 14 years and I've never been in here. I never go out for breakfast or lunch. All my "Old Guy" friends swear by this place. They come here for breakfast on a regular basis and keep asking me if I've been here yet. Now I can say yes.

If you get out for breakfast this is a must stop place.

I really enjoy coming to Capital View especially for breakfast. They have large filling portions & the waitresses are always wonderful. I feel at home dining here. Typically I order the everything omelette (minus the ham), hash browns & rye toast. Delicious every single time. Its served super fresh & hot. They bring out one slice of toast & inform me if I want more let them know. I love that idea because I won't waste the bread & more ordered would be nice & freshly toasted. The price is right at this place. The taste is perfect.

Today I came later in the day.

You won't find friendlier service. If you're looking for a hearty American-style breakfast with a Mexican flair, Capital View is an excellent destination. They offer an excellent all-day breakfast menu, so I haven't tried anything else. Great eggs and great takes on eggs benedict.

I'm generally a fan of biscuits and gravy -- but the ones offered here were a disappointment. The biscuits were small and pasty. The gravy was uncharacteristically bland. Thankfully, there are many other, better breakfast options.

Really good place for breakfast and even better that it cost next to nothing. Took advantage of my complimentary groupon deal. Luckily, it was for this place.

Have always wanted to try it anyway.

The place is much bigger than I thought it would be. Plenty of tables, booths and little booths scattered through out the restaurant. Also a little country store attached quaint and not in an over priced cheesy cracker barrel way.

Food was great. Service was great!

I ordered the country benedict with sausage patties and gravy. Nutrition wise probably not the best, but whatever. It was very good. The
