Services
Dr. Arlo Starr was a Nationally Certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, and Licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine. His specialties included addictions, trauma, dermatology, pain management, herbal medicine, and pediatrics. Our community is heartbroken, and overwhelmingly grateful for the medicine he brought to all of our global families.
All of our tinctures and salves are lovingly hand-crafted in house. We use locally grown, certified organic herbs whenever possible, and certified organic grain alcohol. We use recycled glass and paper when we can. Check out our full line of granulated herbs, tea blends, salves, essential oils, tinctures and more.
Private Acupuncture Session last 60-90 minutes and include an in depth interview, acupuncture and custom herbal prescription (paid separately) if needed. The appointment may also include other therapies as deemed necessary by the doctor, such as moxibustion, cupping, massage, guasha, meditation or exercises.
Pediatric Treatment- For children ages 0-13, we do a brief intake with pulse diagnosis, followed by a treatment with or without needles. Often times little ones will receive cupping and a Japanese style energy balancing treatment which uses specialty tools and not needles. An herbal prescription may be included if necessary.
Personalized Herbal Consult- After an in depth interview, your doctor will compose an herbal formula that has been customized to your individual needs. The herbs are usually dispensed as a granular extract or raw herbs to be cooked at home. Herb cost not included. Prescription Filling- We will happily fill a script given to you by another doctor/herbalist.

I have used herbs and preparations from the kind people at Red Root for quite a while, and have been very happy with them. I don’t even live in Albuquerque, but I use their website now and it is always packaged carefully and sent quickly. I will certainly continue to enjoy working with them and using their products!

Walked in with a small bit of anxiety being my first time getting Acupuncture.
I loved this place from the second I walked in. Floor to ceiling, wall to wall shelves filled with all the natural cool things you could ever hope for.
Dr. Monica A was AMAZING! Lots if in depth questions. The procedure was quick and painless. I felt my blood pressure normalizing immediately.
This is one of the best medical experiences I have ever had.
Great customer service from everyone.
They have package deals, and I paid for one and will be coming back in 2 weeks.

I've usually had really good and attentive service here, but recently had a poor experience. I wanted to get some tinctures refilled but was told that bottles from another vendor could not be refilled. When I asked why, I was met with frustration and was told that's it's their policy. Cool, I get that it's your policy, but help me understand why it's your policy. I replied by saying I'm not trying to be contentious, just trying to understand why. Again, I was met with some hostility and was told that it's just our policy. The tinctures and herbs have always been good here, and usually the service

My wife and I have been going to Dr. Starr and Dr. Lucero for a couple of years now and they have, without exaggerating, changed our lives. Their focus on holistic healing and not just treating symptoms has helped us through allergies, joint pain, GI issues, insomnia, and depression. Not to mention that they and their staff are just incredible, warm people who connect with their clients in an open and welcoming space. I highly recommend!
