The Irvine Junior Games are an important community event with 1,200 4th - 8th grade athletes and their families from all 34 IUSD elementary and middle schools. In addition, the Irvine Junior Games and our generous sponsors raise funds for before and after school child care scholarships for Irvine families at the child care programs located on IUSD elementary schools.

First, the Irvine Junior Games serve as a fundraising event for the Irvine Children's Fund. Second, to encourage the participation of elementary school children in athletics and promote a healthy lifestyle. The Irvine Junior Games have evolved into a force for positive interaction that bring together parents, children, the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD), the City of Irvine, foundations and corporate & individual sponsors.
Services
As the number of single parent and dual career families escalates, so too does the number of children needing before and after childcare. Finding quality and affordable child care is an ongoing problem for Irvine's working parents. Before & after school child care sites are now located on all 28 elementary school sites in the Irvine Unified School District.
Most importantly, the Irvine Junior Games assist ICF in fundraising to provide before and after school child care scholarships to low-income, working families. Our very successful auctions at the Irvine Junior Games have raised over $175,000 to help ICF provide funding for before and after school child care for working families who are struggling to provide safe child care, keep their jobs and maintain their self-sufficiency.
For 2020 - 2021, ICF has committed to raise $171,000 for Child Care Scholarships & Programs. In 1988, the Irvine Children's Fund established a child care scholarship fund for low income, working families. The Irvine Children's Fund Scholarship Program provides scholarships for children enrolled in Irvine Child Care Project (ICCP) supervised child care sites located at Irvine schools.
In 1984, the Irvine Child Care Project (ICCP) was established through a joint powers agreement between the City of Irvine and the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD). Under the direction of ICCP, child care sites are located on all 28 IUSD elementary school sites to provide before and after school child care for nearly 3,000 children in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade.
