I found my own new home by placing a handwritten note in the front door, so, I had no realtor to guide me through the process from purchase to close. The sellers also had no realtor. I knew I would need a helpful, accessible attorney. I couldn't go with my previous ones (2 I used in last 20 years) who worked on their own and wouldn't be available on a regular basis, as their closing schedules rarely allowed for daytime interactions.

I worked with Jay on the sale of my condo and the purchase of my new home and I strongly, strongly recommend hiring Joupin (Jay) Izadi on any real estate transaction. Jay has the best interest of his clients; he breaks down complex legal jargon and provides strong counsel. In addition, Jay is always available, responds quickly (he might be attached to his phone), and works harmoniously with all partners in the sale (real estate agents and lenders).

I tried to do business with one of MJR's clients who was selling their house by owner. Clearly the owner had never sold a house by owner before and clearly MJR did not advise him on the house selling process and fees & additional work buyers request of owners after an inspection. I had a horrible experience which cost me over $800 before the contract was cancelled. Very disappointing and infuriating. I will never do business with another client represented by MJR.

Mort Rubin is the best real estate lawyer in this galaxy. He responds immediately! and listens to your concerns. I have used his firm 5 times for buying and selling. He stood by my side and supported me when I had to deal with a questionable developer. Barbara is just adorable and she is so upbeat, personable and informed. They all have great rapport with each other and communicate so they are all aware of the status of your deal.

If you need a real estate attorney in the Northbrook area, I highly recommend Mort Rubin and his staff (Jay Izadi, Barbara and Judy). We had a buyer who wanted to close quickly. Mort and his team did an excellent job in getting the closing completed in under 4 weeks time. They are friendly, responsive, efficient and most of all knowledgeable. I don't write many reviews, but felt it was important to recognize this very highly competent team. Icing on the cake, their fees are reasonable and they are SO NICE! Mort and Jay were absolutely amazing to work with! I had a purchase fall through the day before closing and they worked on making sure I got all my earnest money back. I was then left scrambling to find another place and they made it a point to work tirelessly on a quick close on that place.
Due to Covid-19, my closing had to be done in a socially-distanced manner and Jay joined via phone. He may have been sitting right next to me though, because he talked me through every single thing I was signing and explained every form in a very easy-to-understand way. I had the opportunity to work with Morton on some agreements that came my way and he was extremely thorough in reading both documents. He provided me sound guidance in terms of direction and even mentioned some individuals that could provide me additional information related to the agreements.

Nice guy, honest, but incompetent. Definitely better options out there when buying/selling property. Hired Mort when I sold my condo and the whole process was full of miscommunication. The biggest mistake they made was sending out emails to the wrong e-mail address, despite me correcting them several times. Even the day before closing, Lisa M manages to send out messages to the wrong e-mail address, which nearly ruined the whole deal. If any deadline passes, you have to contact them to see what's going on. Moreover, I often found typos and mistakes in their official responses which

The office Mort Rubin was absolutely wonderful to work with as our attorney for the sale of our home. Mort and Jay were extremely responsive to all of our requests and questions. They even responded after hours and on weekends. They buyers had several extensions and Mort and Jay helped us through the process and were very patient. And hire them at the last minute....on short notice...
Trust me, any real estate lawyer can screw up a deal or cost you more money...
This is why you want Mort Rubin as "your attorney" and not their attorney!
First off, and this is funny as all heck, I recently got a call for a reference on Mort's ability to represent a buyer and, get this, their main concern was; "Mort is less expensive than the other attorneys I have spoken to and I am afraid that I will get what I paid for!"

Mort Rubin saved my condo deal. I would reccomend him to ANYONE purchasing or selling a residence, he is absolutely the best. His office is in Northbrook but he works all over the city.
Mort was a godsend, and practically did the deal himself. With utterly no help from my real estate agent and mortgage broker (other reviews ENTIRELY, favoring towards the orange star of strife!), I was at a loss...in steps Mort. ::::condo keys jingle:::::
