Tim is the founder of Arbormax and has a black belt in removing trees. He is the Chuck Norris of Arboriculture and there is no better crane operator around. He holds the rare and distinguished title of Board Certified Master Arborist as well as Tree Care Safety Professional. In his free time, Tim enjoys rugby, coaching youth football and spending time with his 5 amazing kids.

Fifty years ago my grandfather began teaching my father what he knew about trees. From the time I was a small boy my father has taught me the knowledge that was passed on to him as well as the skills that he had acquired through the years.
Our chipper trucks are the workhorses of the fleet. They dispose of all the material from the job sites, excluding the logs large enough to take to the mills. Chainsaws are the most important tools in our arsenal. There are two types of modern chainsaws. One being a top handled or climbing saw. This saw is lightweight, compact and specifically designed to remained balanced with little effort.
Since the first tree set its roots billions of years ago they have evolved and adapted to grow in forested environments where nutrients are abundant and stress is limited. So naturally they have a hard time acclimating to our urban environments and the stresses we put on them. In a forest, decomposing leaves and fallen twigs supply the tree with essential nutrients and unneeded braches are pruned off by Mother Nature.

The best tree removal service in Raleigh! I received an estimate from them on Thursday for the removal of a large oak tree that was struck by lightning. The estimate for the tree removal was $1000 cheaper than the closest estimate provided by other tree services. I agreed and Tim scheduled the project for two days later. They came in on a Saturday! Every other tree company was two weeks out and wanted to charge extra for Saturday projects. The crew arrived early. I watched them conduct a safety meeting and job plan. ***Update: The owners did eventually reach out to us and try to make some things right. They never addressed the limbs we expected to be removed based on what we paid and agreed upon. Therefore, I will bump this up to a 3 star.***

ArborMax was wonderful to work with. I was afraid a tree in my yard was in danger of falling and ArborMax provided me with insightful information that put me at ease. Rather than paying thousands of dollars to remove a healthy tree (as some other companies recommended), Arbormax recommended targeting pruning that not only saved me money but also saved the tree! Overall, they did a good job. I've used them twice and in all, took out 8 trees from my yard plus stump grinding. They were quick and cleaned up well. However, the communication has been pretty bad. Normally the calls all go to voicemail but the box is full and they don't answer emails. They also never called to scheduled both stump grindings and just showed up randomly without notice. I've also asked about pruning service but never got a quote so we're probably going with another company.

Crew was respectful and communicated well. Price was fair. Worked well together as a team and it showed. Impressive to watch them take down several trees between 2 houses with in 75 ft of each other and a fence with no issues. Well just one, slight damage to a step on our stone patio Considering the project scope that is not bad. They called us back without hesitation on a solution to addressing it.

We initially had issues coordinating our stump removal with Arbormax. However, it seems that this was an unusual series of unfortunate events. The owner has since called us, and was extremely kind and apologetic. As the situation has now been rectified, I can now recommend this company.

UPDATE: after posting my last review reflecting a disappointing experience with Arbormax, I was immediately contacted by the owner, Tim Robbins, who was until that point unaware of the difficulties that we'd experienced with scheduling and communication. He has since gone above and beyond to make the situation right, apologizing, explaining, and completing the remaining work within 24 hours - all over the weekend. I am deeply impressed with the professionalism and work ethic that he has demonstrated in resolving the situation, and can honestly say that I would now recommend Arbormax.

Wow. First off I have to say that I'm not easily impressed but Arbormax blew me away. I called to request an estimate and they were immediately upfront with the fact that they were booked out for 3 weeks. Not exactly what you want to hear when there's tree hanging over your house, dropping branches and hurricane Matthew on the way but I appreciated the candidness. I eventually settled on another tree service but they stopped returning my calls after the storm. Fortunately for me, Arbormax kept their promise and eventually scheduled an appointment.

During the last ice storm nightmare, we had some real damage to trees that fell and destroyed fences and ended up on various neighbors' properties. From branches caught up in higher trees to a tree that split in half at the base, it was a mess.
