New Orleans has a rich history filled with stories about pharmacies from our past. Those original pharmacists created all the medications from pure powders or liquids, mixing them carefully, using a very precise formula to get a prescription that was customized for each patient. They could make that prescription in any strength or flavor, depending on the needs of the patient and the type of the medicine that they were using.
At Carr Drugs, we know having access to your medication and records during a time of emergency is important to you. We have several steps in place in the event that there is an evacuation or emergency that affects our area. 2. In the event of an evacuation, all phone lines are rolled over to Randy Carr's cell phone (our owner and one of our pharmacists) and he can access all records remotely from wherever he has evacuated to.

Very frustrating dealing with these guys. I needed to have my kid's doctor call in a prescription and called to see if they had it it stock. I was told by the person who answered the phone that it was "illegal" for them to disclose this over the phone. After researching this and asking other pharmacists, I have found out that this was not true at all.

Giving customers the wrong prescription may be excused once, but to happen on multiple occasions is a cause for great concern. When called on the matter, the staff seemed nonchalant and said, "Just bring in the prescription and we will replace it." I'm glad that we have a care provider for my mother-in-law, it would not have been great if she'd mistakenly taken morphine instead of her prescribed medication. A re-training of staff needs to happen. Checks and balances are a must on all medications. So glad we caught it before we had an actual medical emergency on our hands. Get it together!

A Pharmacist Who Believes he Knows Better than a Doctor
I was using this pharmacy for almost a year with no issues. In fact, I rather loved the pharmacy and the staff.
Now, to understand all of this you have to know that all of my conditions are chronic. Chronic COPD, Chronic Heart Disease, Chronic Asthma, Chronic Pain Disorder, and Chronic Panic Disorder And Extreme Anxiety Disorder. I also started loosing blood and my doctors at the AMAZING LSU admitted me, ran tests and still couldn't figure out where my blood was going. I had to have TWO blood transfusions and 2 colonoscopies. Well, after

We've always had excellent and professional service from all of the staff and pharmacists at both Carr Drugs locations. Any questions concerning the prescribed medications or their potential interactions with other drugs have been completely answered. Plus we love all the extra things available at Carr...OTC drugs, dollar greeting cards, limited food and sweets, etc. Carr Drugs is our favorite drug store in the Algiers/Gretna area!
