Children learn through creative play, becoming chefs, dancers, scientists, storytellers, woodworkers, musicians, paleontologists, and artists as they combine activity and discovery with imagination. Parents learn side by side with their children through involvement in their children's education.

Monthly parent education meetings cover topics such as self-esteem, sibling relations, learning development, or boundaries, and allow parents to share concerns and ideas. What a great experience KCP has been for my daughter and myself! We both love the mix of parent involvement and independence.
Services
Kirkland Co-op Preschool is located in Lake Washington United Methodist Church. KCP is not a church-sponsored program, nor do we have any religious affiliation. Our program was started in 1947 by a group of moms interested in a cooperative program for their children. We opened our doors in a converted chicken coop on Finn Hill.
It is a virtual program, with supplementary in-person outdoor learning times. Teachers prepare monthly art supplies for pick-up/drop-offs. These art kits provide many of the projects your student would normally do and experience in class. No student drop-offs during in-person outdoor time. 12:30-2:30pm in-person outdoor learning every week, alternating location of KCP or local park/trail head.
This exactly what I was looking for in a preschool. Affordable, play-based, wonderful teachers, and a great community of families. Since you volunteer in the classroom every week, you get to know the other kids as well as their parents/caregivers, so I feel very comfortable leaving my child there on the days I drop-off.
Q: At what age can my child attend KCP? Dates given are for the calendar year in which the school year begins. Thus, for example, children entering Group I in the fall of 2016 must be 2 years old by the end of February of that year. One parent from each family must work in the classroom once per week for each child enrolled at the preschool.
In order for us to determine which group you child could enroll in, we would appreciate it if you can fill in your child's date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY) in this field. KCP is located within the Lake Washington School District Boundaries and occupies space in the Lake Washington United Methodist Church.

My family is so fortunate to have found Kirkland Cooperative Preschool! My children love the teachers and program. I love the community and the parent education. At KCP I have been able to be an active part of my children's early childhood educational experience.

My children have been going here for three years and we can't say enough nice things about it, but here are some of the things we love:
- The teachers are amazing and are great with the students.
- The parent community is really involved and we all know each other's students and are involved in their success. Being a part of our kids' preschool experience was important to use, and the set up of co-op was a perfect fit.
- This is a very affordable preschool, especially if you have more than on child. (We have a set of twins and another singleton, so affordability was important to us.)

After my first daughter was born I felt a real yearning for a community for her. While I had lived in Kirkland for years, I didn't really know any other parents, particularly like-minded parents. Kirkland Co-op changed all of that.
I love the play-based philosophy and the cooperative spirit of KCP. Not only did I get to know other parents, and their children, but I became so much more confident in myself as a parent. I've also made great lasting friendships and gotten to know more of my neighbors.
Both of my kids have now graduated from KCP and they entered school more than kindergarten ready

Highly recommended, as a mother of two with a really busy schedule, and I still proud to be kirkland coop mom for the last 5 year and this is our last year at KCP. Been here for a long time I get to know others parents and get connected to many of them. Not only of that I get to learn how to be a better parents. KCP always have speakers who come talk at the college to talk about kids behavior, emotional coaching, empathy....especially if you want to have a new friend for yourself and for your kids try KCP out.
