Services
In general, our therapists treat most psychological disorders and depending on training, use a variety of methods and techniques. The staff biographies detail the types of concerns each therapist addresses and the methods they use. Our counseling staff complete training in both Christian theology and behavioral health disciplines.
Play Therapy is a powerful tool for addressing cognitive, behavioral and emotional challenges. Play is our first language and just as adults use words to communicate, children use play to express thoughts and feelings that might otherwise remain hidden. Our therapists are trained in a variety of play therapy techniques that can help children process their experiences and develop more effective strategies for managing their worlds.
Dr. Alcorn is co-founder of the Central DuPage Pastoral Counseling Center and currently serves as President of the Endowment. As a therapist, he takes a special interest in marital and life management issues including intimacy in marriage, dealing with difficult people, stress, and the exploration of suffering through the Psalms.
I deeply desire to help you grow, whether through insight about yourself, or in finding emotional, spiritual, or relational health. One of my therapeutic goals is to provide you with the space and freedom to be authentic and vulnerable. I believe there is power in being present with someone, sitting with them in the heaviest of moments.
The Central DuPage Pastoral Counseling Center considers the integration of theology with the practice of behavioral science to be fundamental to our mission. As pastoral counselors, our staff are trained in both fields. This dual perspective allows us to uniquely serve church congregations and parishes in our community.

Report
Not recommended if you are a single parent. AFTER our intake meeting, I was told I needed permission from my child's non-custodial parent in order to proceed with care. This information was never stated. It is not on their website, it was not told to me when I called to make an appointment, it was not stated when I did my intake interview and it was not told to me in the 8 emails I had with the therapist prior to my appointment. Considering we had court ordered no contact in place, I explained it was virtually impossible to get his "permission" without defying a court order. They did not care.
