Services
The Gateway Restaurant & Lodge is one of California's best lodging options for your visit to Sequoia National Park, the Sierra Mountains, Kings Canyon and other Kaweah River locales. With full service banquet facilities and a large meeting room, The Gateway is also ideal for small groups, sales meetings, and retreats.
Famous for giant sequoia trees-- including the largest tree on earth, the General Sherman Tree-- Sequoia National Park is a national treasure. Located just one-fourth of a mile down the road from the Lodge, the park contains many exciting outdoor activities for our visitors, including whitewater rafting in the Kaweah River, hiking along trails in the Sierra Mountains, or taking a leisurely trip through King's Canyon.
Nestled in the Sierra Mountains along the Kaweah River, The Gateway offers lodging for a variety of outdoor adventures by this magnificent body of water. The word "kaweah" is a Yokuts Indian word meaning crow (or raven) cry and is regarded as the spirit of the winged intelligence and the call of the wily, mischievous, and opportunistic spirit of Nature.
All of our rooms and cabins feature air conditioning, in-room coffee makers, writing desks, cozy comforters, fresh pillows and comfortable beds. Movies and entertainment are offered in each room as well as free Wi-Fi connections. By popular request, our rooms do not offer telephone service, but calls can be placed from our reception desk.
Our top-rated restaurant is a favorite among visitors and local residents alike. Known for its continental cuisine, excellent service, and breathtaking views, the Gateway Restaurant offers a wide range of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner along with daily specials often featuring seasonable soup, fresh salads, and seafood.

Well, I wanted to like this place. My Girlfriend and I were here April 2021. The lobster I had was horrible (I think it was undercooked). The bill was huge. But we were just glad to have a sit down dinner post COVID. Well, we went back the weekend between thanksgiving and christmas and the filet mignon I got took forever to get to the table and was raw in the middle (medium rare requested). I asked if it could be refired or something and it took so long to get back we where ready to leave. Everyone else there on both occasions were fantastic! I think the cook (chef is too much) was punishing me

Really not much choice so ended up here. Food was acceptable but nothing special and all fine until bartender Kyle showed up. He literally changed all the sports on the bar tvs without asking anyone at the bar that was watching. When confronted he ignored it. In addition the female bartenders that were there also ignored us and refused to restore anything after ‘Kyle’ changed the channels. It was BS and we left because of his ride behavior.

Dreadful food and service. DON'T COME HERE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I had gone in with my girlfriend and got strange looks from the staff for whatever reason. Very uncomfortable atmosphere with staff that don't even care, only one waiter was actually kind. Everyone else had an artificial kindness around them. Food is crazy overpriced (due to the location no doubt) but I would at least expect some quality. Dirty tables, no general care for the establishment at all. I repeat DON'T COME HERE AND GIVE THEM ANY MONEY. Really disappointed and disgusted with everything. It's a shame.

My family and I came to eat here and the food was very delicious. All five of us loved the food and loved the service as well. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was wonderful. She even gave us fresh baked cookies that she made herself and they were the most delicious cookies I have ever had. My 5 year old daughter couldn’t believe how delicious they were, and she kept saying “Mom I don’t know how she did it to make the best cookies in the whole world”. Aside of the food being delicious, it was a wonderful experience for all of us to eat here. Thank you Gateway Restaurant & Lodge

Oh my, this place exceeded all expectations. It’s unassuming from the road, but sitting along the river on the deck was a delight. Service was attentive and quick and the food was outstanding as well. We all had steaks, and from the ribeye to the filet they were delicious and perfectly prepared. Leave room for dessert too. The molten lava cake was yummy. (No food pics, we ate everything. )

Lovely restaurant and bar. Situated in a great location, next to the Sequoia park exit.
After a hot day of hiking we stopped for a could beer and late noon lunch.
The food was very tasty and portions were generous.
A nice waitress gave us an explanation of the area.
As a conclusion, we enjoyed and highly recommend as a stopover restaurant at the exit of the park.
