Sushi Kuu
Chef Albert Utomo oversees the sushi bar and collaborates with the kitchen to bring the customers traditional Japanese cuisine with a modern perspective. His journey started in Las Vegas. He then moved to New York City. After working in popular sushi restaurants in New York he finally fulfilled his dream of opening his own restaurant, here in Visalia.

Albert's creativity is based on a masterful technique and his virtuoso skills honoring the freshest ingredients. He believes sauces should compliment fish and not overpower them. Extremely personable and a natural educator, Albert enjoys teaching customers about the fish he serves. He believes that customers should not be intimidated by the sushi bar and welcomes their questions and comments.

Recently moved to Visalia. We went here for our 4th wedding anniversary. Loved it!! The interior of restaurant was really nice. But the food was great. The spicy pork ramen was full of flavor. The fried Calamari appetizer was very good. It came with a very good dipping sauce. Impressive sushi as well. We definitely left satisfied.

Had lunch here at 1 pm on a Friday. Not crowded like I've seen it at night. Had the pork ramen which was good but not great for the price. Nice flavor and noodles weren't over cooked. My bf had the bento box with beef which was tasty and a good deal. Ambiance is nice but the acoustics are not good, so hard to talk. Street parking only.

The best place for absolutely fresh, decadent sushi in all of Visalia! Classic sushi options as well as a great list of signature rolls. I tried the lemon drop roll(comes with sliced raw scallop)—a true litmus test for freshness, and I was not disappointed! I will come back time and time again. Service is quick and kind as well!

Incredible sushi restaurant located in Visalia CA. Was not expecting this to be honest. The sushi was full of flavor, very fresh, and the roll options were creative in design and flavors. The ramen (spicy pork ramen) was also a must! The flavors were bold yet complimenting of all the ingredients. The pork slices where a bit think for my liking but I will say I prefer too think then too thin. It's a hard balance but too thin tends to overcook in the broth too quickly so if has to be, I'd rather it be too thick. The staff was super friendly and everyone of the staff was co Stanly on top of things

We were acknowledged as soon as we walked in. Although the young woman didn't say follow me. She picked up 3 place settings and menus and set them on a table and kept walking. I'm guessing she doesn't want to stay in the food service industry. I ordered a bottle of Dassai 23 and when she brought it to the table she just set it down and walked away. I have never in my 40 plus years of dining out ever had to open my own bottle of wine/sake.

We had the edamame, which was good, but I've actually had better. It needed a bit more salt. I think some restaurants boil the

I came here because the ramen looked really good. I expected a small spot - usually sushi/ramen joints are. This place was pretty big with a wide variety of menu options. I make this note because I imagine that's why they dropped the ball on the egg in my ramen. Ramen always comes with a soft-boiled egg. Even on the menu, it says it comes with a soft-boiled egg. Alas my egg was not soft-boiled. It was hard, grayish yellow colored, and chalky. I get it. It's a big space with a lot of tables, they need to churn out a lot of meals for all these people. The amount of time it took for them

Well I've been coming to this place since they were located on Noble. I'd say this restaurant is one of my favorite Japanese food places in this area.
I came here for late lunch with my mom and Lana. We were all thinking ramen but I ended up with the chicken cutlet and I wasn't disappointed. So much delicious chicken cutlets! The light batter and the sweet sauce was exactly what I was craving! They had the spicy pork ramen looked and smelled delicious with tender char siu, delicious noodles and hot broth. I also ordered the softshell crab appetizer. It was light, delicate and delicious

Food was great! This place usually seems pretty busy when I've gone but we've always been seated pretty quickly. The food service was super quick and everything tasted delicious. Can't wait to go back and try other items.

Green goblin and ooh la la rolls tasted great and fresh. Oh-toro was okay. Side salad has a dressing that beat out almost any other I’ve had. Good prices and good food.

I'm always a tad skeptical of sushi restaurants that are inland, but the sushi here was great! Highly recommend the Lion King roll & Green Goblin roll. Atmosphere was nice and service was quick and friendly.

Maybe because it was Christmas Eve, but I got here 30 min after they opened for dinner and this place was already packed!! Fortunately I was able to get a seat at the bar.
Being that it's cold and rainy again in Visalia, I wanted a ramen. So I ordered their spicy pork ramen as well as a side of garlic edemame. Edemame came out quickly. Smelled really garlicy. And even tho they were covered in garlic, the garlic flavor was very light. Great way to start a meal though. The spicy pork ramen came out quickly too. Large bowl of broth. I ordered it moderate spice level, but all I tasted

I had the sushi set and it was fresh and delicious as was the miso soup (some of the best I have ever had). My wife had a roll and pot stickers and she enjoyed both. Stay away from their wine. It was only mediocre and ridiculously expensive for the serving size. It is also very loud and crowded and hard to hear a conversation.

Nice restaurant in downtown Visalia next to a brewery. I love the vibe and the decor. Tried the chicken rice bowl and two sushi rolls. I enjoyed the garlic edamame the most and the Japanese craft beer. When we arrived we saw the sign said understaffed but even then service seem to be pretty fast and our food came out pretty quickly. Only weird thing was that it seemed we were rushed and I usually like to go to places like this to sit and enjoy good food over nice conversations with good company.

Still, it's a cute place and the staff seemed nice. If you're coming here for sushi, I personally

I love this vibe of this great addition to downtown! The color contrast of the decor is so youthful and energetic

I came in on a quick lunch break, the house was packed but from the amazing service you would never know.

I was quickly sat, dianna was my server. I order the sake sashimi and she recommended the green goblin roll (cause I trust her).

The salmon was SO FRESH! The green goblin had sweet and spice goin on. Definitely will be back, I have a whole menu to play with

Hands down the best sushi in town! Came here for my birthday and absolutely loved every roll we tried. The restaurant is really modern with brick walls and cool bistro lights inside. Perfect spot for a nice lunch of a date night. Price is typical for a sushi place but they do have great lunch specials that include a miso soup or salad.

I'm absolutely blown away by this random sushi place in Visalia! I could not believe the quality of the fish. I love when a small town like Visalia has a chef that has a passion for sushi and will take it seriously. Anytime I'm in the area, I'll be hitting up this spot!

This is my go to restaurant for sushi and ramen in the 559. We mainly come for ramen because it's amazing. The serving sizes are pretty large which is what I expect when I order ramen; not being able to finish it while not wanting to stop eating it.

The sushi is also always so good! A lot of local places don't make me feel like I should get their sushi, but Sushi Kuu just feels cleaner than some other local places.

Every time my family has gone, the customer service has been amazing, pre covid the servers were all very attentive, and now they always make sure you have everything you
