Manual Physical Therapy & Concierge Services
We Help People Aged 50+ to be More Active Without Painkillers, Injections, or Surgeries AND to Stop Repeated Trips to the Doctor's Office. Manual Physical Therapy & Concierge Services, which specializes in treating complex, chronic pain patients who have tried most everything or have had "failed" surgeries.

She decided to become a chronic pain specialist after personally struggling with chronic pain in both of her shoulders, despite having no history of physical injury. When Joann became "her own patient, " she obtained a much deeper understanding of chronic pain sufferers. After spending years perfecting her approach, her dedication and hard work finally paid off.
Services
We help people aged 50+ become more active without the use of pain pills, injections, surgeries, or repeated trips to the doctor's office. At Manual Physical Therapy & Concierge Services, we love to help people in their 50's, 60's, and 70's get back to living the life they deserve.

This means a life free from pain pills, injections, or even surgeries - a life where you can enjoy all of the things you love, without the fear of pain holding you back. When you have been suffering from chronic pain in your knee, lower back, neck, shoulders, hip, or foot, we know it's tempting to leave it alone and hope it will simply "go away on its own" with time and rest, that you will wake up someday, and like "magic", the pain will be gone.
If you have pain, stiffness, or an ache in your lower back, it's very tempting to think that it's nothing, that it will go away on its own. Or, you might pass it off as "just a spasm, " a result of having "slept awkwardly, " or that it's just a bit of stiffness that "everyone your age" suffers from.
If you have been living with fibromyalgia, it's very tempting to think that this is just how things are, that you just have to live with it, accept it and deal with it since there is no "real" cure for it. In any case, there's no obvious reason why the pain started. Maybe you are not even sure what NOT to do so you won't get yet another flareup.

My therapist resolved my pain by correcting my posture and releasing tight muscles, which a medical doctor never did. I loved my therapist because she showed me on her ipad what she was doing. She responded to all the pain I had. I didn't know until the end of my treatment that she researched on her own time how best to treat me. Even though I still have some pain (I have fibromyalgia), I am able to swim, teach water exercise and bike like I used to before I was treated. I would highly recommend Manual Physical Therapy. I tried other physical therapy before a friend recommended MPT. It was useless

This is the best clinic and the best therapists in Sarasota/Manatee county. Joanne’s approach to resolving pain is brilliant and she has helped me restore optimal, pain free functional mobility on more than one occasion. This clinic is responsible for increasing my spark for life and no longer living with pain that hinders me from doing what I love. Trust me, invest in yourself here, it’s the real deal.

Manual Physical Therapy was recommended to me by a pain management doctor. I had already scheduled a consult with a surgeon for severe nerve pain. After my first visit I knew I was in good hands. I canceled my surgeon consult, stopped any meds, and continued my appointments with Manual Therapy. In a matter of weeks, I was out of pain. One year later, I can take care of myself so I am not a slave to appointment after appointment. This place has made me pain free, put me back to work, and gave me the confidence to (follow instructions) take care of myself with simple exercises every day so I stay

This is rare work. It's not "do 10 reps on each side and I'll be back." It's hands-on for the hour visit. It seems pain is body dysfunction. Their focus is on making muscles efficient. I saw changes I had not after trying several different practitioners - muscle activation, general PT, etc.

I have been getting therapy from Susannah at Manual Physical Therapy for the past few weeks and the improvement is remarkable. I am now walking like a normal person whereas I was limping and in much pain a couple of months ago. Love these people! Thanks for the great care!

I have been suffering with hip pain for many years. I follow all the instructions from my doctors. I got shots, did many sessions of physical therapy. Ending with a left hip replacement in 2017. Things didn't go well and I had to have it redone 6 weeks later. I and longer period of recovery I did physical therapy again. It helped but I ran out of appointments. I tried to continue on my own and made some progress but I still had pain in my left hip. I was getting depressed and I called the surgeon to see what can be done. The x-rays showed it to be muscular and the AP suggest Manual Physical Therapy

I had problems with my hip. It hurt to move, to turn over in bed, to get in the car, get out of the car, etc. I'd had this problem for 3 years. I went to Manual Physical Therapy, and after the first visit, I noticed a difference in the pain level. After my treatment was finished, my pain had gone from a 10 to about a 3. They showed me exercises to do to help, and they really do work. I try to do them daily, but when I notice my pain level rising, I do the exercises! This is the best place for getting your life back. Manual Physical Therapy is not like the usual physical therapy...it's more of a
