The company is owned by Jack & Joan Briggs and the home office is in Denton. They own & operate Mountain View Memorial Gardens, a perpetual care cemetery in Denton.

In 1910 two Denton residents W. W. Russell and B. I. Harrison founded Piedmont Furniture Company selling furniture and "Undertaking Supplies". They changed the Name around 1917 to Rex Furniture and Undertaking because a company in Lexington, the county seat, was using the name Piedmont. In 1919 the company was sold to Carl A. Hoover.

If you are having your love one cremated please ba aware that you will not be picking up your loved ones ashes from the funeral home! YOU WILL BE PICKING THEM UP AT AN APPLIANCE STORE. We were HORRIFIED and had no idea this was the way Briggs handled the ashes of loved ones. Had we of known that this was the case we would have used another service.… Up until this point we had been totally satisfied with the care, compassion, and service, we had received. This was cold, unprofessional, and this task is passed of to individuals who are trained to sell you a stove, not the funeral directors
